I think they are predicting things to get delayed that far.

97 Mk1A additional orders could be due to this, rather than being proactive to arrest fall of squadrons.

France's offer for engine collaboration is already there since the time of Antony. It is us who are unable to take any decision. More than a decade time is not sufficient for our inefficient bureaucracy to take a decision for collaboration.

Its the terms involved between involved companies that dictate. Its nothing like France's offer. Their Govt will clear a deal that's it. We have seen just how reluctant foreign oems are when it comes to parting with technology.

That's why we need to continue with our indigenous jet engine programmes in-parallel. No one parts with their crown jewels. What they'll offer is one-gen behind tech.

Anyways, let's wait and watch regarding this engine JV.

And yet Lockheed Martin parted with latest F35 stealth technologies to China which resulted in J35....
Here earlier Obama and now Biden were personally involved in technology transfer before shutting off technology transfer to China through law.. Geopolitics and personal benefits are strange motivators....😊
 
Tender issued for LRU items common with mk1 , that are needed for first proto unit of MK2.

Mk2 drop tank related work to begin. 1700kg and 1300kg drop tanks provision indicates 2 carrying pylons/undercarriage are rated at min 1.8 ton and 1.4 ton respectively. Ample scope for good weapon system carrying ability, R3 R4 NG etc.
