Trump calls for the US to increase defense spending to $1.35 trillion after calling for NATO members to spend 5 percent of GDP on defense. The US currently spends 3.4 percent of GDP on defense: $842 billion.

5% of GDP is $1.3 Trillion.... hopefully it happens. This would end USAF concern for funding ICBM modernization and NGAD it would also end USN funding worries for new ballistic missile subs and warships. Throughout the 80s US defense spending was over 6% of GDP so 5% is nothing.

Are you acquainted with the phrase - too little too late , shlhomo sweetie ? All those grandiose plans won't materialise before a decade from now & that's assuming Congress passes Carrot Top's budget which also means printing more currency , skyrocketing US fiscal deficit & US fiscal debt to GDP ratio which in turn means kicking the can down the road & most importantly all this spending doesn't come in time to prepare you to take on the Chinese by the end of this decade except for some band aid here & there .

Hopefully both the US & Chinese cancel each other out & spare the world a lot of pain , which given the current state of affairs is the only logical conclusion one can draw from the war to be waged aka a Pyrrhic victory , assuming you're familiar with the term .

Bonus - no EU will be there like the US was to ball the former out with a Marshall Plan at the end of WW-2 as they'd have their own demons to fight. Long story short , with the complete decimation of your war fighting abilities & capacities , a burgeoning debt , de Dollarisation , return of the gold standard , a sharply divided polity , I'd say even if the US wins the war , which I fully expect it to , you'd have entered a period of terminal decline which should culminate in the Disunited States of America if not by the end of this century then certainly by early next century.

Remember in spite of all this , we're rooting for you .

Expel you from my head when you're the one who's literally copying my DP , shlhomo sweetie ?! Calls for a celebration . Here goes -

Scenes when the FED raises interest rates .
Also scenes when a ceasefire is announced in the Middle East .
Also the same scene when McD launches kosher pastrami pork sandwiches.

Meanwhile on topic -

NATO Secretary General seeing the writing on the wall for Ukraine falls in line with Carrot Top's new budget statement . Europe would be terribly disappointed if the war in Ukraine were to end in a cease fire but Zelensky would be shattered.

Not only would he lose his income but also his job & unlike other Jewish comedians he can't even go back to his previous profession not after he's trolled his entire country. Ja ?

Even if it does happen, it's not gonna happen overnight though. But yeah, it would be good news. I've been hoping for this for the US and Europe since last decade. And Trump was definitely gonna boost the budget, we have known that for long.

Europe doesn't need 5% though. Even 3% would go a long way in covering Russia for decades.

It can be done in the next two years. Orange bossman won't have a choice but to go 5% since that is what he's asking the Euros to do. Hell go 4.3% and that will cure the funding troubles for USAF ICBM modernization and NGAD program AND USN's new ballistic missile subs and surface warships.

From what I understand, the Sentinel program will be funded regardless, but a boost in budget will feed into NGAD and doubling the B-21 fleet. The USN getting a boost will be a priority since it's part of the Republican mandate, so expanding that is the bonus.

Elon says DOGE won't be able to free up 2 trillion bucks though. They could get half. And if the defense budget eats up half of what's saved, then DOGE will fail. Otoh, a $100B boost every year will get the budget to about $1.3T when Trump leaves office, and that cost can be compensated with economic growth without touching the budget cuts. The end result will be the same.
