India-Canada Relations : News & Updates

Canada should approach international relationships “with eyes wide open,” using pragmatic, realistic, and sometimes uncomfortable diplomacy, rather than expecting clear black-and-white outcomes. Many of the aspects remain the same. India refuses that it meddles in the affairs of its diaspora and they do not take us as seriously as their other relationships. Disinformation exists that makes things difficult for Canadian govt. and organisations to act on Indian information.

The attitude with which these guys are talking is pretty much a toned down version of what used to be said earlier. Fair amount of work still needs to be done here.

This presents some good points with respect to Canada-India relationships. Both need to work towards ensuring a better working relationship.

On this National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism, CSIS remembers the 329 people on Air India Flight 182 who lost their lives due to a heinous act of terror.

On June 23, 1985, a bomb planted by Canada‑based Khalistani extremists destroyed the aircraft, killing everyone on board—most of them Canadians. It remains the deadliest terrorist attack in Canada’s history and a defining moment for our national security community.

CSIS was less than a year old at the time, and the tragedy shaped our evolution. Over the past four decades, we have remained committed to protecting Canadians from political, religious, and ideologically motivated violence.
