The SCO aims to accelerate the development of a family of next-generation, maneuverable, high-precision hypersonic weapons specifically designed to penetrate advanced defensive architectures. These weapons will span multiple programs and utilize various configuration combinations, specifically involving:
Different stand-off ranges
Different booster sizes
Different payload packages
The objective is to provide the Department of Defense with flexible options for engaging a wide range of targets.

Gravitics has been selected by Lockheed Martin to build three spacecraft for demonstrations of space-based missile defense technologies under the Pentagon's Golden Dome program. The selection, disclosed in regulatory filings, marks one of the first known industrial contracts tied directly to the Golden Dome architecture.
Gravitics will build three orbital carriers under the arrangement. The work falls under the Golden Dome space-based missile defense program, and the platforms are intended to support demonstrations of missile defense technologies in orbit.
Those increases are revealed in the latest version of the National Security Space Launch program’s selected acquisition report
The surge in demand comes as the Space Force is planning to field large numbers of satellites in the coming years to support missions like satellite communications, space domain awareness, missile warning, and moving target indication. NSSL also supports the National Reconnaissance Office and other classified customers who are fielding proliferated constellations of their own.
The growing manifest is also likely to support Golden Dome, a sprawling, layered, missile defense architecture. The Space Force is supporting that program in a few ways, including by developing space-based interceptors that can engage a missile during the boost and midcourse phases of flight. Initial prototypes of those spacecraft are expected to be integrated into the Golden Dome architecture by 2028.
The Space Development Agency is also fielding a missile defense and tracking constellation and recently announced it would add 36 more satellites to that architecture to support Golden Dome. Those satellites are also scheduled to be ready for launch by 2028.
The U.S. Army has moved the TITAN program from prototyping into production. Palantir and Anduril have received a combined $192 million — $127 million for Palantir and $65 million for Anduril — to build the first production batch of these mobile intelligence nodes, designed to speed the collection, fusion, and delivery of targeting data against distant threats.TITAN’s purpose is to pull sensor data from space, air, and ground sources into a single, AI-enabled system and get usable targeting information to units faster. Palantir leads overall architecture, software, and production. Anduril supplies the ruggedized vehicle-mounted hardware, including power, thermal management, cooling, and mission shelters. Two variants are planned: a heavier Advanced version for tactical trucks (FMTV) at corps and theater level, and a more mobile Basic version for JLTVs (with additional work on Infantry Squad Vehicles).The first four Advanced and four Basic systems are scheduled for delivery within 18 months. They will join the nine prototype units the Army already keeps in operational use.
NEW: The Pentagon wants AI to turn raw space and missile-warning data into actionable threat intelligence in as little as 2 seconds.A Defense Innovation Unit solicitation released on Sept. 10 seeks a “Space Threat Intelligence Synthesis Engine” that can ingest live video, satellite imagery, radar, geospatial data, sensor feeds, and classified intelligence, then identify threats and generate confidence-scored alerts almost instantly.
The scale is aggressive, with up to 5 GB of incoming data per minute, a maximum 5-second data-to-display latency, and a 2-second objective. The system would distinguish closely spaced objects, attribute events to specific threat actors or platforms, and continuously update its understanding of weapons-system capabilities.
The Pentagon wants machine-to-machine APIs that feed intelligence directly into automated command-and-control systems, effectively compressing the time between detecting a potential threat in space and acting on that information. The bids are due Sept. 24.
