It's a shame we'd be abandoning the delta planform after LCA Mk2. Had we carried it forward to TEDBF, it could have been evolved into a next-gen stealth fighter in the same mould as GCAP/Tempest (with blended levcons, outward canted twin tail-fins, etc).

For some reason, the ADA has dropped the chined forward fuselage design first shown at Aero India '21 and is proceeding with a more conventional 'desi-Rafale' config for TEDBF. Inexplicable decision.
If you mean MWF then Tejas Mk1 = LCA, Tejas Mk2 = MWF. LCA# X= MWF, Light X= Medium.
MWF & TEDBF both are currently delta-canard. Any changes declared?

To be clear, I was referring to the well-proven pure delta config of the N-LCA mk1 with blended levcons. It would have provided all the advantages of the standard delta-canard config plus RCS benefits for TEDBF.

The Russians built upon the same idea with the Su-57 while we chose to throw away all the work we'd already done and use a traditional planform on TEDBF.

F/A-XX might have it.

It's a Govt owned entity, they have no other option.
Had it been the Pvt Sector, the officials would have been shown the exit door.
Its the otherway around, by being central government unit IAF forced to induct LCA tejas which they really don't want to induct. That parikar forced it towards their throat.
That same government agency, HAL tried to rob IAF during MK1a negotiations. Asper reports they even tried to charge a premium profit over the spares not made by HAL.

Why is ADA worried about 120 or 80 or 240? They are an R&D organization, not a manufacturing organization. We need desperately some private sector and throw these people out of the office.

Unless ADA or DRDO completes all The Developmental work in each case , we cannot Start production

In the case of MK 1A , it was supposed to be a few modifications of MK 1 , still it took 7 or 8 years

MK 1A was approved by Mr Parrikar in 2016

I know its chicken and egg situtaion, For manufacturing we need some private constrium to be build for MK2 and AMCA. HAL, ADA, and IAF are deadlocked, which needs to be broken.

Sadly, the IAF offered AMCA to a private player in full but none stepped forward saying they do not want to directly compete with HAL. So they had to design a new SPV model, it's going to happen via a PPP model with HAL involved as a minority partner alongside a majority private player. Kinda like DRAL with Dassault having a minority share.

Plus they don't want a long term program with a short build cycle, meaning they want more jets ordered.

So a few companies are vying for the program, an announcement of the shortlist is expected this year. Hopefully during the airshow.
