Indian Political Discussion

I have a genuine question for all the people from various leanings (left, right, center). please tell me, in all your honesty - who is the alternative PM candidate for India in 2019.
rahul Gandhi?
Kejriwal?
Mamta?
Mulayam Singh?
anyone else?

It could be Chacha Chaudhary (genuinely).

The Congress in 2019.

Cheers, Doc

Accha, since you continue to be here, could you point me to a decent link on the place fire has in Hinduism.

I have many serious questions. Doing a bit of study.

Cheers, Doc

You will have to be more specific that that.

Are you talking about the Eternal FLame ?

Visit the Jwalamukhi temple in Himachal Pradesh.

All types of fire.

How it fits into Hindu theology. And practice. Rituals.

If fire is worshipped, why is there never a fire in most temples?

Most Hindu homes do not have a fire burning in a day to day basis either.

What is the concept of cremation.

Why is it ok in Hinduism to put out a flame.

What is Hinduism's position on smoking (for example chillums).

Cheers, Doc

As per vedic practices a Hindu is supposed to always have an eternal flame burning in his house (in pooja room). All the hindu rituals called "Nitya karma" and "Naimittika karmas" is done with this fire. From birth ceremony, naming ceremony to the final pyer for the dead. Similarly a Yagna is conducted using the fire provided by the Yajman (sponsor of the yagna).

For example the Yajur Veda says,

"uthishtatha maaswapta agni michadhvam bharataaha"

Which means, "O people of Bharath! awake, don’t be asleep, yearn for Agni"

This however is not used in Yogic practices and related Agma practices (temple worship).

In Yoga we use "Tapasya" i.e. Internal fire to purify our body and mind. That is why there is Agma and not Agni.

Temple worship was introduced for the Kali Yuga when it was anticipated that Vedic practices cannot be sustained in this yuga. Many Yajnas are prohibited in the Kali yuga. That is why temples were built in Kali yuga to help people burn away their weakness / impurities /sin using their self control and Yogic practices.

However the crematoriums used to keep the eternal flame burning, but with the advent of electric crematoriums that too has died out. In earlier age, agni was hard to create and maintain / sustain and in the absence of water, Fire was the next best cleanser of impurity.

Over time water has become the first choice for maintaining cleanliness and washing away impurities and hence Ganga got prominence. Agni is now used for special occasions like birth and death or when consecrating a diety.

In Jammu's Roopnagar, some "secular" folks beheaded cow and threw her head on the main road on Tuesday.

Hindus protest as Mufti show no interest in arresting the culprit.

Karnataka is ATM of Congress: Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the Congress has become a problem for the entire country and called upon people to make Karnataka free of Congress.

At the valedictory of Jana Suraksha Yatre of BJP at Nehru Maidan here on Tuesday, he said the BJP is the only option to make Karnataka a crime and graft-free state.

He charged, "The Congress government has posed threats to the people of Karnataka and the brutal murders of 24 Hindu activists are a proof of it. No development works going on in Karnataka. An atmosphere of terror is being spread by Jihadi forces and the state government is encouraging these forces."

Coming down heavily on the government for withdrawing cases against PFI and KFD activists, Yogi said Karnataka has become "the ATM of Congress and anti-national elements".

The Jana Suraksha Yatre, flagged off from Kushalnagar in Kodagu and Ankola in Uttara Kannada on March 3, culminated in Mangaluru on Tuesday. The Yatre, started from Ankola passed through, Kumta, Honnavara, Bhatkal, Baindoor , Kundapur, Udupi, Kaup, Mulki and Surathkal before reaching Mangaluru.

The yatre from Kushalnagar passed through Madikeri, Sullia, Puttur, Mani, B C Road, Moodbidri, before reaching Mangaluru.
