A reminder of what we've lost by way of our heritage in 1947. This holy site was where the festival of Holi was first celebrated to commemorate the killing of the demoness Holika .

Another remarkable thing is wherever we have the holiest of our holies , be it the Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, Sri Krisha Janmasthaan, Gyan Vapi Temple or the Prahladpuri Temple you'd either have a mosque or dargah built above it or opposite it or besides it. In this case it's the mazaar of the famous Sufi bahauddin zakaria . Ironically this sufi himself paid for the building of his own mausoleum. He passed away in the early thirteenth century.

Apparently the actual date when the original temple was first destroyed is lost to time but the city of Multan was captured in a seige by Bin Qasim during his invasion of Sind in the early 8th century. By all accounts then the temple survived the conquest & devotees had to pay jizia to have a darshan.

Then the usual series of events which affected much of India followed, conquest of a temple along with the town or city it was housed in followed by looting & destruction followed by rebuilding as in the case of Somnath or Sri Krishna Janmasthaan.

Eventually by the time of partition practically all the Hindus & Sikhs left the city with a few who stayed behind functioning as caretakers of the temple till 1992 when in the aftermath of the demolition of the ruins in Ayodhya this was among the many temples demolished in Pakistan & Afghanistan. Right now it lies in ruins with the property in the possesion of the Evacuee Trust Property Board in Pakistan.

When you've eminent intellectuals speak with a sense of entitlement about how & why India must talk to Paxtan you realise the rot is much deeper than previously assumed.

No it's not what you think or not exactly . I was referring to the severe damage to the intellect of ordinary Paxtanis due to generations of cousin marriages for if this is how a so called eminent Paxtani public intellectual thinks & acts what can you expect from the ordinary Paxtani.

Geopolitical rents​

After 9/11, the world went easy on Pakistan because it was an ally on the war in Afghanistan. Now that war is over. According to Uzair, it could have been the case that traditionally, the US President would have made a phone call to the IMF and told it to go easy on a country. This happened with Argentina, which landed a great IMF program because it was considered an important Latin America country. (The IMF was criticised for “placing geopolitics over economics” in this case).

Arguably, If Paxtan had played it's cards right & not pursued a strategy of getting the US out of Afghanistan by backing the Taliban all the way, they'd be in a different position today. But this was bound to happen to them at some point of time in the future.

Now they've the best of both worlds - the Taliban screwing their happiness on one side & a US screwing them for the double cross on another.

Even if starvation was the issue , shoot the bustard. You take in 1 today you'd have to take in 10 tomm & 100 the day after . Our xhutiya milords are there to facilitate just that , as observed in the case of the Rohingya.
