Small Arms & Tactical Equipment

hell yes....
I just watched the video , and thought it was beautiful, I think boys missed few tangos hiding behind bushes in the right side.
BTW can you guess which type of bullet they used, because the muzzle sound was kinda different than usual or it’s just usual Dragunov

0.338 Lapua Magnum suppressed, in all due probability. The bullet went through 2 heads and still hit the wall hard enough to kick of a small dust cloud. Any smaller caliber would get mangled after the first head and would hit the second target and stop, it wouldn't make it through to the other side.

It is most definitely a bolt action rifle. You can hear the operator cycling the rifle after every shot. I think it is the Victrix Scorpio rifle.

Nice. Yes I missed the cocking(?) sound. Also it was due to suppressor that the sound felt special.
Btw by the video can you guess at what distance was the target . Also how good (or mediocre) was the performance of our snipers in this particular case. Thanks in advance

@Milspec for you too

Difficult to say. If I were to venture a guess, I'd say anywhere between 300-900 m. That's just my guess.

Pretty darn good. How do you think they got the video ? Here is what I think happened :

The sniper-spotter team located an enemy hideout. Given how relaxed the enemy is I'd say they were a bit deeper into enemy territory. The team got into position. The spotter either switched from his spotting scope to a DSLR camera or attached some form of a camera to the spotting scope itself. Given how we also have audio, I'd say it was a DSLR camera with a mic attachment.

Then they would've waited to record enemy movement and to find an opportune moment to shoot. When the targets lined up in a single file the shooter opened fire. Now the first shot of a sniper is usually the most inaccurate one, it is called the cold shot. It is inaccurate because of improper reading of environmental variables which is actually quite common. Here the cold shot took out 2 guys with a double head shot. That's incredible ! Sure the follow up shots were a bit less organised than ideal but keep in mind this wasn't a SF unit. These were regular infantry guys from the Maratha regiment. This is a good reflection on the training general infantry receives.

They did all of this and the Pakistanis didn't know till too late. Better yet they had time for a : "3....2.....1..Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ki JAI". Premium quality trolling this. 🤣 🤣🤣

Do regular infantry (marksman?) use Scorpio ? and suppressors?
BTW I think there was more than one sniper considering how rapid the successive fires were

They were handed to any unit that get close enough to the LoC to land a shot. Regular infantry or SF didn't matter, deployment zone did matter. Suppressors were purchased as a part of the gun package along with scopes, magazines et al. Use of suppressors is of course mission based.

Possible though odd. By our past deployment patterns, snipers and spotters are deployed as a team. Sometimes snipers work alone without a spotter. I've never seen a spotter work with two snipers. Not sure if that would even work.

This definitely had multiple shooters, at least two performing sync shots.

I don't think the bullet went through 2 heads. It pierced through the 1st head at an angle, then hit the wall behind, then the shrapnel ricocheted into other person's head/body. I was confused as to why the second person went limp cause the bullet didn't even hit him. It clearly hit the area on the wall that was in the middle of the 2 people. Moreover, the video is from early 2019. The gun could be PSG1 too. It wasn't suppressed.

You are right. There were 2 snipers. You can see 2 shots on the wall. The bullet didn't ricochet, there were 2 simultaneous shots. I thought it was the same bullet.

Camera operated by a Support Rifleman, not the spotter. He was right next to the Spotter who called out that legend of a countdown.

Mauser ? Where did you hear that ?
How close was the enemy to the border ? A 7 man team is a big one.

How can the first shot go through two heads unless the sniper shot em from the side! Assuming the sniper's location is the same as where the camera is located, it seems impractical. Must've definitely been more than one sniper. Also, it looks like the third guy sitting on the left has also been hit during the second or third burst but it might not be in the head which made him immobile and was taken out by subsequent shots. Additionally, you can hear masking cover fire in the background which is most likely to further suppress sniper shots despite the suppressor

Wasn't it a 7.62x51. It sounded similar to an m24. But India doesn't have those so the closest are ssg3000 and Mauser sp66 . A lapua magnum would have mutilated the bodies and the distance was not more than 200-300 meters considering the video clarity. Lapua magnum bullets have energies closer to a .50 cal And a single shot would have killed the third guy but it took atleast two shots to kill the third guy. .338 would e an overkill at those distances.
