TVS has launched the Apache RR 310 in India at a price of Rs. 2.05 lakh (ex-showroom). It is available in two colour options – Racing Red and Racing Black.

The new Apache RR 310 shares its underpinnings with the BMW G 310R. A lightweight trellis frame forms the backbone of the bike. The overall length of the bike is 2,001 mm and its measures 786 mm in width and 1,135 mm in height. The wheelbase is 1,365 mm and the seat height is set at 810 mm. The kerb weight of the bike is 169.5 kg and it comes with a 11-litre fuel tank.

The styling of the Apache RR 310 is inspired by the Akula concept. The fairing is claimed to have the lowest co-efficient of drag in the segment. The front features bi-LED projector headlights with a racing stripe running down the centre of the front cowl. LED daytime running lights have been integrated into the headlamp clusters. It also comes with LED tail lights. It gets clip-on handle bars and a vertically laid out digital instrument cluster that can record 18 different diagnostic parameters at any given time. The RR 310 rides on 5-spoke, 17-inch alloy wheels and gets 41-mm KYB upside-down front forks and an adjustable monoshock at the rear. The bright red trellis frame of the bike is visible when viewed from the side.

Under the skin, the TVS Apache RR 310 is powered by a 312.2cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with a Bosch closed loop fuel injection system. The engine is reverse inclined and gets double overhead camshafts (DOHC) along with a hydraulic cam chain tensioner for lower maintenance. The engine delivers a peak output of 33.5 BHP @ 9,700 rpm and 27.3 Nm of torque @ 7,700 rpm and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. TVS claims the Apache RR 310 will do 0-60 km/h in 2.92 seconds while 100 km/h comes up in 7.17 seconds. The claimed top speed of the bike is 160 km/h.

Braking is handled by a 300-mm petal type disc and a 240-mm petal type disc in the front and rear respectively. ABS is part of the standard package. Michelin Street Sport tyres measuring 110/70 R17 front and 150/60 R17 rear are offered on the Apache RR 310.

The new TVS Apache RR 310 will compete with the KTM RC 390 and the Kawasaki Ninja 300 in the Indian market.

From the pictures this is a good looking bike..... Hope it performs as good as it looks.... Any performance reviews yet?
A friend of mine rode this machine at the MMRT,and his opinion is that this machine is very well engineered and more user-friendly than KTM's.

The rc390 is a very track dedicated motorbike, riding in city is such a pain, but this one is better and ergonomic friendly.

And one should not compare it with duke 390(duke again is a very bitter bike).

This is more practical bike for people.Beinga KTM Duke 390 owner,I feel this bike is at serious competition with KTM Dukes, which this bike might not win.Because KTM has a large fan base and it is priced very close to duke 390-you spend 20k more and you have a lighter, more agile, more powerful and more menacing bike.

Performance wise Apache 310RR is subpar to KTM Duke 390 as the KTM has better power output, better 320mm calipers, slipper clutch, lighter wt, grippy Metzler tyres, flyby wire throttle and a ton of more features.

But this Apache is Beauty to behold . It somewhat reminds me of Ducati Panigale.
It's appears better in fit and finish too.

BTW vibration issue is an inherent disadvantage of single cylinder motor. @Prateik both Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Yamaha R3 are parallel inline twins, which is way more smoother than the single cylinder
Hope the next apache will get the parallel twins.

BTW your KTM look hot.
PS: Correction Apache is good 1kg lighter than KTM rc390

Pretty sure people would go for the apache just for it's conventional superbike looks.
For some the KTM styling is just too radical, including me :p. Unbeatable in performance though.

True it is an issue common to all single cylinders, but after stepping off an R15, apache 150/180 are jarring sometimes.
Seems to be an issue with the newer 200 too.@nair
But that opinion is from a second hand source , so that's debatable.

AFIK First and second gen Apache were known as Tractors due to excessive vibrations.
Not first..... first was smooth as butter....

But second....But some considered it to be the indication of sheer power..... 15.2 bhp from 160 engine is not a joke... considering it to be an aircooled engine

I don't think anyone with track performance in mind would go for Apache given that later is lagging in a lot of important goodies available with KTM with marginal price difference.
But no doubt Apache will find their own niche in due time, specially among casual bikers who like premium feel and are not willing to commit beyond 3 lacks for R3 and Ninza.

Possible because I only have second hand knowledge about earlier versions but one thing I must say is right from the first gen their fit and finish is better than anything made by the competition.
Apache always felt like more performance oriented.
Just look at these two

True. It is more a direct competitor to the R3 than anything else.
R15 pumps out 17bhp with just a 150cc engine with higher torque figures too. It's liquid cooled though.
Indian engines were never any good when it comes to refinement.

The thing with KTM is that they design with laser like focus. They have very good track record, MotoGP with rc16 v4 and Moto 3.

Both the bikes cannot be compared-you cannot compare rc390 with ninja 300 when you take performance and handling as the sole parameter, but when practicality is involved I think there is no denying that n300 is best.

This bike strucks the right balance between n300 and rc390-1st and 2nd gears are short and rest 4 are tall to keep bikes butt and edgy nature, ktm with its different engine configuration (it's slightly less oversquare) has a loads of torque and power right from the word go but this bike delivers power in very linear manner so that it remains very tractable and user-friendly.

Looking Noyce...

Expecting a long ride soon...

@Sanu
Just rode the bike near Pune and boy this thing is absolute beauty and so much user-friendly,but still,if I were going on a track I would chose rc390,if going touring then may not be this thanks to small tank and maybe the new 390 duke, but if it is city riding, then it's going to be this bike only.

Not really..... Indian companies work on what is needed for Indian customers.... Japanese use their existing models in other countries and tweek to Indian conditions....where as Indians has to start from scratch....But I can tell you last 5 years indian companies have improved a lot....

They have, a lot. Bajaj in particular has reaped a lot of benefits by acquiring a 49% stake in KTM. That was the turning point.
This partnership has contributed a lot in terms of engine tech improvements and product design. Every KTM and Bajaj bike is conceptualized by a design studio called KISKA situated in Austria.
The clincher is that, all of this has helped them grab customers in South America and south-east asia. Plus pretty much every KTM bike below 500cc meant for world markets is manufactured in the Bajaj chakan plant.
Need more companies like this that can take their products global.
