Actually democracy does tend to equal money, since democracies are generally richer than dictatorships, because the governments have to please the people. And you specifically called them a 'banana republic,' which usually refers to a poor dictatorship. It's democratic simply because they hold fair elections.

The probability of it happening soon is not likely no. That's what he said, but we knew that, we're in for the long haul. The war will last until Russia leave, which will likely be years. Eventually his people will tire of being thrown into a meat blender and realise that the outcome of compliance is the same as the worst outcome for non-compliance, so they have nothing to lose by turning on Putin, except what they will lose in Ukraine anyway.
