Vijay Mallya Defence - Indian Jails Over-Crowded With Poor Hygiene - attempt to gain sympathy in UK Court or a real concern?

I believe its a blatant hogwash. Uk by itself is being duped into shielding a man who had done an economic crime. It would be in UK's interest not to shield all such criminal people in the name of protecting and providing amnesty.

Mr Mallaya must be brought to India and tried for the whole Kingfisher issue and justice must be done by the court of law.

Britain for long has the habit of looking down on anything that is not "BRITISH" in nature however good that might be.

Mallya has done excellently on pulling on-to the right strings in the UK court.

The double standards are clearly evident in this case. where a criminal is being protected in the name of various racist laws devised in colonial era.

If they do give him asylum. I hope India offers the transfer of all its prison denizens to Britain for asylum.
One must not show favouritism afterall. what about the human rights of the other prisoners.?

My message to the British court,
"My lord, Mr. Mallya being an indian citizen, knew the appalling conditions in Jail. We are a population of 1.25 billion people and hence we cannot keep them in 5Star hotel like conditions. Sir, since he knew how the conditions are before hand, and so he should have not cheated Indian public money and absconded to UK. Surely he sees the loop holes in British Justice system which protects such absconders. Now since he has defrauded indian public money, we would appreciate that he faces justice in India. However if the British justice system are so concerned about it, then we might suggest as follows:-

1. Please do book the Entire Taj hotel for the entire duration of his trial (with holidays leaves included) do further note that GST of 28% will be additional. This will at the cost to british exchequer.

2. If and when he is convicted, Please ensure that you have built a nice 5 star prison complex as per British standard for Mr. Mallaya on land alloted by GoI at nominal rent of say £ 10/Sq mtr per month, of course the cost of building and maintaining would be to HMG cost.

Also in order to reform our criminals, we plan to send all the criminals specially the ones with high sentences to you so that you can reform them as per your jail system, since we assume they would be reformed after they are cleared, we assume that those will be given British citizenship and their cost of living, housing etc would be taken by HMG , After all due to your observations we cannot keep the prisoners in India in our appalling conditions and so in the name of Humanity, we shall gladly be able to transfer them to you.
As a matter of fact we can send them by special flights to help you in this matter

Thank you

Or the British government can clear all the dues on Maliya's behalf and keep him.

Considering the fact that we still have many pockets where poor sections of ordinary citizens live under lower living conditions than that are provided in our jails; we need not provide anything more than what we provide in our jails, a roof, meals, toilets, medical and some educational facilities. It's a jail, not a resort.

So a person can kill someone and seek asylum in some western country on the basis of toilets not clean enough in the country's jails where he committed crime? Very sound logic! :cautious:

The case will depend upon principle of double criminality & if there is a criminal charge filed against him....poor condition of jail in India show how weak his defence really is.
