I overestimated your erudition. Those 35 million include the Bangladeshi migrants - both Hindus & Muslims including the so called illegal ones & the Doubtful voters.
In fact the story goes that if one were to take a head count of all those inhabiting Assam today, the original Assamese inhabitants Hindus + Muslims + tribals are already a minority.
Make no mistake, India is duty bound to take in the Bangladeshi Hindus. In today's India, if there were a referendum on it, you'd be in a minority. Even the Congress wouldn't oppose it. However, the Congress in true fashion would look the other way if it came to Bangladeshi Muslims coming in, pay lip service to the Assamese concerns, eschew hard unpopular action & continue to self aggrandise while pursuing token wefare & economic developmental schemes.
