Mariupol was fully captured by the Russians weeks ago, so nice try.
Ukraine is happy to sail out through their own mines because the know where they are. The port cannot be demined because they are under attack.
Plus Putin has already said very publicly that he will allow grain to travel if sanctions are lifted, hence the mine excuse is false.
That said, I'm not sure they should still be defending Severodonetsk given the surrounding area, but then I'm not a military tactician.
