Explosion near Red Fort: At least 9 dead, several injured in blast

They said the blast occurred while personnel were handling the explosive material that had been brought from Haryana's Faridabad. The material, part of the 360 kilograms of explosives recovered from the rented residence of arrested doctor Muzammil.

Small successive explosions prevented immediate rescue operations by the bomb disposal squad. It was not immediately clear if the entire 360 kg of explosives was stored at the police station, where the primary case for the terror module was registere...

This is the official statement. Police will not say anymore. Wait a few hrs, we will get to know what happened. Ignore the OSINT a/cs for now.

There is one more possiblity. The explosive involved was PETN. That is a shock and friction sensitive explosive. It set off and perhaps that set off some ammonium nitrate? who knows!

People might disagree with me and may even chide me.. but I believe, PM needs to make a statement on the lines of ... Muslims are part of India. Not everyone will be suspected. But who hide behind innocent won't be left. Urge muslims to boycott terrorists and if they find someone like that.

I believe radicalisation will twofold after this. Among both religion. Hindus and Muslims.

I know reality, and what needs to be done. But PM needs to make statement to save those who are at borderline and potential assets for India.

And then give free hand to agencies to do the needed.

Cause the abdhullas and muftis have already started playing victim card and ecosystem would get their toolkit soon. So, nip the narrative before they have the chance.
Doesn't have to become an apologists and appeased. Cause agencies needs to be given green light to do what they consider best.

Oh, absolutely. A leader needs to bring his people together... more than ever right now...

Lets not forget those who died also included muslims and police involved in investigation are also having some muslims.

Damn it.. it doesn't get any worse..
Almost feels like retaliation against Amit shah..
Hope NIA has already done assessment of evidences.

I do not know but there is some element in Indian politics who is very hesitant to go medival on Pakistan. Why? I do not know.

Our political leadership and military leadership should learn to shut the F up in that case. They had no business going on with their rhetoric post Sindoor if they knew that they couldn't follow through in case something were to happen.
True but this is how the two banias at the top are. Their bark is usually worse than their bite. I'm coming around to the thought the aim behind continuing Operation Sindoor was also about deterrence which failed with this googly .

OTOH you have the Congress which has no bark & no bite. So where's the choice really?
I am stunned that the Ricin incident is not getting the coverage it deserves. Had that gone through as planned, it would have been an unprecedented attack with massive number of casualties. I don't know about the rest, but that alone qualified this as something that warranted a response. Add to that 32 freaking cars laden with explosives.
Agreed . Neither is it receiving the kind of international attention it should nor is it receiving much national attention. Hopefully the powers that be are thinking of paying Fauji Foundation in the same coin.

I don't necessarily mean something similar but enhanced aid to the TTP, Balochi Sarmachars etc.

Right now both sides are probing each other's weak underbellies. The one with the weakest will lose in the final reckoning.

I still can't get my head around this claim of accident. It's clearly to stop any rise of anger and anti-pak/kashmir/muslim Sentiment. Two possible reasons;

1. To let investigation be completed without increased public outcry.

2. Simply not ready for 2.0

But one thing is clear and it would be better for security officials to take heed of it: Munir and his sleeper cells in india, both needs to be taken out. And yes, taken out!

There are a couple of groups that have said they were involved in causing this explosing whether through sabotage or through an IED. If the govt. desires post investigation it can begin Sindoor 2.0. However, there is no denying that this could have been poor handling or storage of seized explosives. Booby trapping is not out of the question. I think it would have a highter chance in comparison to an attack or an infiltration of the police station itsellf.

All of this ties into the fact that there is less no knowledge about how the explosives were being handled or stored in public domain. The exact composition and nature of the explosive material is still not being stated. If anyone has a statement from FSL, please do link it in the thread. I have not found any press release from them or the agency that is acting as the primary investigator: NIA.

There are such instances of explosives exploding while in custody (during seizure or after a raid). The one below was covered by the mainstream media and resulted in a lot of casualties.

The 2015 Tianjin explosions in China involved hazardous chemicals (including ammonium nitrate) stored at a port resulting in over 170 deaths. This was during storage after import/seizure processes.

Yes! But the background those incidents happened is not same as this case.
Common sense says that such grave incident in Delhi would make everyone very alert and cautious in doing everything. They must have strived for perfection, since govt has kept the pressure of tracking pak away by the way it framed the attack.

All the above cases you see arose out of negligence of regular teams. Not FSL.
And acc to reports.. it was part of explosives material seized in haryana. So, they were moved to J&K. Either it was due to fcked up legal and Beauracratic procedures which needs the evidence, case to be logged in at original FIR station or sheer neglect. Both reveal serious gaps in our inter-agency coordination and legal process working as a roadblock in investigation.

At this point, it hardly matters if it is accidental detonation or not for the following reasons --

1. The explosive seized was meant to blow up somewhere causing widespread death and destruction.

2. There was an explosion of the same stuff in Delhi, killing ~14 and injuring ~30.

3. There is probably a sh*t ton of explosive still in the wild waiting to blow up.

4. Responsibility of attack claimed by PAFF (JeM).

Now, pertaining to 4, our stance immediately is - "They are lying" when, we know for a fact that this (1 - 3) was orchestrated by some JeM module here. So, them taking responsibility means, they take responsibility for everything, including the Delhi blast.

They have GoI by their proverbial ba**s this time. Such timid response by the state is unimaginable.

This guy is claiming it was ANFO which was stored. I am having a very hard time digesting this.

Mistakes can happen. It is human nature. My point discusses the possibilites and does not zero in or discusses a singular cause. The event can have multiple reasons behind it (a chain) or a singular catalyst. You can definitely argue that the sabotage angle has an edge over the others. However, there exists little in the public domain that can help us validate that or the other causes.

The chances of a Booby trap being triggered is also high. I have merely listed them all out. Coming to the govt. angle - Yes, unlike the previous incident in May, the GoI seems to have taken a slower approach. I hope that they plan things better this time around and prepare for a longer conflict.

Well yeah. I know about possibilities. But this impatience is arising due to two things only.

1. The modules still in dark and little idea about their methods.

2. The RICIN! That is a very very big thing which is being deliberately being kept away from highlight it seems. Otherwise the TRP media would be all over it. It could be to not spread panic but that keeps population being not aware of the danger out there. It has both good and bad.
But seriously, bio warfare is like a taboo even for the vilest of states. And we are not just some little piece of land somewhere hidden. Which actually makes me wonder about the state of mind of munir and US backing him.

I read an article where it was stated that Munir is called as deciever by his people in PA.

Note: Bihar elections are over. It should remove any political constraints from GOI. While Midterm elections for trump are in full swing and pressure after 3 losses. Time for UNO reverse.
