Documenting armaments, weapons systems, and munitions that made an impact during OP Sindoor. News related to the operation or any other aspects including its after effects on the region will not be discussed. The thread is purely for discussing the operational effectiveness and technical details.

The M982 Excalibur (previously XM982) is a 155 mm extended-range guided artillery shell developed in a collaborative effort between the U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) and the United States Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC). The Excalibur was developed and/or manufactured by prime contractor Raytheon Missiles & Defense, BAE Systems AB (BAE Systems Bofors) and other subs and primes in multiple capacities such as Camber Corporation and Huntington Ingalls Industries.

In December 2019, the Indian Army conducted firing trials of Excalibur guided shells in the Pokhran Field Firing Range from one of its M777 howitzer.

This is a video from RTX showcasing the firing from a Caesar Howitzer.

Clip of the Excalibur XM982 155 being tested in India two years ago. I could not find actual OP Sindoor Footage for it. M177 Howitzer is often paired with XM982.

The Storm Shadow is a Franco-British low-observable, long-range air-launched cruise missile developed since 1994 by Matra and British Aerospace, and now manufactured by MBDA. "Storm Shadow" is the weapon's British name; in France it is called SCALP-EG (which stands for "Système de Croisière Autonome à Longue Portée – Emploi Général"; English: "Long Range Autonomous Cruise Missile System – General Purpose"). The missile is based on the French-developed Apache anti-runway cruise missile, but differs in that it carries a unitary warhead instead of cluster munitions.

The Indian Air Force deploys them on Rafale jets. Used in OP Sindoor in 2025. There were reports of some interceptions and also a failure (OSINT chatter). However, there are no signs of IAF expressing displeasure either in Print or Broadcast media.

Status: In active use with the IAF. There are currently no RFPs for the procurement of SCALP.
