West Bengal and North East : Political Discussions

In a major breakthrough in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, police seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition during a raid linked to an associate of a Trinamool Congress leader. One accused, identified as Tumpa Sarkar, has been arrested, while two others remain absconding. Police recovered 140 rounds of ammunition, revolvers, and magazines from the premises in Berhampore’s Saidabad Girjapara area. Investigators are now probing the source of the weapons and possible links to a larger network.

The West Bengal CID made a breakthrough in the murder case of Chandranath Rath, a Personal Assistant to Suvendu Adhikari. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) detained three suspects in Uttar Pradesh after a multi-state manhunt. The suspects, known as "infamous marksmen" with histories of targeted killings, were arrested based on technical surveillance. Their identities remain undisclosed as investigators work to unveil the motive and mastermind behind the assassination. The investigation suspects a contract killing, investigating who might have hired the shooters.

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari today said that the state government has decided to transfer land to the Border Security Force (BSF) for erecting a fence along the Bangladesh border. The decision was taken in the first cabinet meeting held today after the formation of the new government in West Bengal following the elections. The Chief Minister said that within 45 days, land will be handed over to the Border Security Force for fencing along the state’s borders. He alleged that the previous Trinamool Congress government had withheld land to encourage infiltration.

Major controversy erupted in Bidhan Nagar where hundreds of Aadhaar cards were reportedly recovered from a TMC office. The seizure has triggered a political storm, with police launching an investigation into the source and purpose of the documents

The director of vigilance and anti-corruption department caught Assam civil service officer Lachit Kumar Das, assistant director at the land records and survey office while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 45,000 in Guwahati.

The team raided the house of Das and recovered Rs 1.18 crore. The total later rose to 1.66 crore. Documents linked to the acquired land properties were also recovered during the raid.

According to vigilance officials, the accused officer allegedly demanded Rs 1 lakh from an individual in connection with the issuance of a no-objection certificate (NOC) for an inter-religious land transfer case.

After negotiations, the amount was allegedly settled at Rs 50,000.

After refusing to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the directorate, which verified the allegations and laid a trap at the Directorate of Land Records office in Rupnagar, Guwahati.

TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee was attacked during his visit to Sonarpur in West Bengal on Saturday, where he had gone to meet the families of post-poll violence victims. Eggs and stones were thrown at Banerjee during the visit, while BJP workers allegedly raised "chor chor" slogans against him. Security personnel escorted the TMC leader wearing a helmet amid the attack. Following the incident, Abhishek Banerjee was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Kolkata for treatment. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee later reached the hospital to meet him while he was undergoing treatment.

So, while analysing a couple of videos (synthetic or misattributed), I was sent this across by a friend. He had been mapping a few AI generated video and sent this across as a falsified tagging of an Indian train. This is an MP from WB who used a video from BD to showcase the condition of Indian railways/state of travellers. He could have picked any stock video or an older video from local trains to show the condition. However, he used one from BD.

Cases like these are the ones that do not receive much attention or warnings.

Someone in the comments has pointed it out. However, the owner of the post faced no action and did not remove it. You can ignore the language. The video indeed comes from BD.

On another note- False tagging by the way is a new trend that the GoI will need to combat. Footage taken from other places and synthetically altered to make them seem like those originating locally.
