Indian Army Artillery Systems : News and Updates

There were separate requirement for 814 MGS, then 200 Tracked SPH and 180 wheeled SPH.

The 180 wheeled SPH plan got shelved. And possibly added onto the tracked SPH.

Further the 200 SPH didn't account for systems along LAC. Therefore an additional 100 or so pieces. Add the 40 shleved arjun based catapults.

That's nearly 520 peices of tracked SPH, exactly what the Army is trying to get K9s of.

The 814 truck mounted howitzers are a separate requirement, not affected by tracked acquisition.
Thanks for the breakdown! Glad to see that opens up private (or DRDO/PSU) SPHs for the next round. And potentially 814 order for MGS.

What are folks here opinion on this- General Atomics Winged Artillery Shell? It supposedly fits in existing Artillery and can strike at 120-150km that too without any motor. Some seems to be envisaging a motor that can burn through again and provide even more range.

pretty cool, would be very good if DRDO also develops a variant of this shell and manages to combine it with the ramjet shell as well considered the ramjet is just an add on. But it does take away from the kinetic impact of a shell and it might also be more vulnerable to jamming etc.
