Indian Missiles and Munitions Discussion

IDeX projects have assured order value if successful. JSR has over 300+ cr assured order from IAF if their jet powered REK is successful. Prototype development also is funded albeit very low amount.
I see. This prog seems to be different from the IDeX one though. This is not a REK for dumb bomb but a unitary JSOW class weapon.

Yes, IAF does provide their aircrafts for testing when needed based on availability. The REK kit for IDeX program will be a derived from this design. I highly doubt this glid bomb will enter service. It just does not have sufficient lethality. The test might just be to verify the base design and make it available for export.

IMO, it all depends on the cost factor. If they can offer it at a lower price than the combined cost of a drop bomb + REK, then why not? It would also save valuable time during wartime sorties. The way point navigation and accuracy seems to be impressive, but it still needs to be tested in different environments e.g., high winds, rainy conditions, high-altitude releases, and over the sea, where waypoint navigation may not always be reliable. Since it is build by the X-IAF guys, they already have their own evaluation process and testing criteria.

The standard approach is to just add wings to the basic tail kit. So is JSR trying to reinvent the wheel here?

The IDeX requirement specifically calls for a bolt-on REK (with a booster as an option). We have huge stocks of unguided bombs to upgrade. JSR may be trying for a different requirement.

Is drdo developing a new missile for conventional strikes, photo posted by @Godofparadox in twitter, do anyone have any idea what missile is this, did DRDO even released tender for this?
The only conventional missile which yet to be publicly tested is BM-04, which has range b/w 1500km-2000km, prahar & pranash were ditched,
First time seeing this thing,

Idk man, that looks more like a placeholder than a missile judging by that pointy cap.
The vehicle looks similar to the single-cell Pralay launcher with some difference.

IMO most likely it's just shaurya launcher by Godrej PE with a dummy missile

A dummy missile ?
With so much details like 4 air probes, 4 outcrops for TVC, launch arm, extensive system integration, flanges, etc ?
Those familiar with drdo dummies would not require a 2nd look to determine whether a dummy or not

i have not seen that many DRDO missile dummies to get a good judgement so i could be wrong ofc
but still curious to know if the launcher had been developed years ago, why we haven't heard much of such system ?
Also what gap it's trying to fill when Pralay and BM-04 exist ?
