Nothing new, from GRSE Q2 investors call -
7:00 - (NGC) Bids submitted, technical evaluation in progress, expect the L1/L2 declaration in Dec 24/Jan 25.
29:15 - NGC contract can be concluded by Q3 of FY26 (Oct-Dec 25), with revenue to be generated in 2 years from contract signing (revenue here means starting construction).

Looks like the Pechora SAM launchers have been removed. Hopefully, the remaining Rajput class DDGs will get the VL-SRSAM in due course or they would be no better than a frigate.
Hopefully they will be retired asap. 30-35 years is more than enough for a hull.
True. But if the hulls are still in good shape, the IN will continue to flog them for the foreseeable future.
This might include replacing worn out sheet metal like they did with the Kilo class subs which are roughly of the same vintage. The replacement P-18 is still on the drawing board.

I think it's already been done.
1 was decommissioned. 1 was sunk as a target. 2 carry Barak 1s and Brahmos and 1 carries VL-SRSAM.
You can see the 4-panel AESA radar behind the L band radar.
Unfortunately, it took up the space for Brahmos, so I suppose it's being used as a light AAW asset while supporting ASW ops in the littorals.
The other two have Barak-1s and Shtil, so they do not need much more than that for ASuW.
Shtil on the Rajput class? Wouldn't they need the associated ASR+ FCR combo to work?
Imo the 4× P-20 AShM should finally be retired. (Barring Vietnam, I can't think of anybody else that still uses them).
Given the lengths the IN has gone to keep these ships in service, 4 x Brahmos on the foredeck should be a nice addition.

Although it's old, it's still a mach 0.9 missile carrying a 450 kg warhead. It would still be useful against some targets.
The IN already has a large number of AShM types. If anything, getting rid of the Styx will only reduce the maintenance/logistics burden. Imo, the IN continues to operate the Styx more for sentimental reasons (1971 Op Trident) than anything else. Hope we can standardize on the NASM-MR/LR in due course and junk the Kh-35, Harpoon, Klub and Exocet.
It depends on the role they expect these ships to play. The ones with Brahmos and no VL-SRSAM can handle anti-shipping roles when operating under the protection of other ships while the remaining one with just VL-SRSAM can handle ASW. And the Styx are for self-protection.
Junking other missiles is at least 20-30 years away. We have new orders for 3 of the 4 you mentioned.
