Indian Army Air Defence Corps : Updates & Discussions

RFI is not a concrete thing. They are evaluating the market and if its positive they will push the papers to MoD. Then only it gets AoN from DAC.

DM recently visited South Korea. Maybe that's the reason for this sudden news. They could be thinking of a G2G deal.

Such a sad state of affairs. Everyone knows the requirements, but no one initiated any indigenous development. It should have been done immediately after the earlier tender expired. Five years has been wasted.

What if it's K9 Vajra like situation all over again
Hanwha manufacturers K-30 Biho right??

I'm kinda baffled tbh how none of the Indian companies have even remotely showed any intent to make a platform like Biho despite this going as far as back to 2021. It's not like they are incapable of making such a platform.
Seriously.
Biho = Armored Platform + Twin-30mm gun.

India has:
  • Twin 30mm gun
  • Vikram VT-21 (or Ajeya if you want a light tank chassis like the Polish Loara which is similarly T-72 based)
  • SOA Radars
  • SOA SAMs
  • SOA Sensor/Shooter Network Integration
  • > 5yrs
... But no Biho-equivalent

Instead, there is a growing shopping list to splurge on:
  • Biho
  • Pantsir
  • Tunguska
  • Verbas
"Op Sindoor is still On" is less a threat to Pak and more a backdoor for the import lobby to push everything through the EP route.

Someone seriously needs to get the "belt treatment" as you Indians like to say. The RM needs to be held accountable and needs to lose his job over this fiasco. If you guys keep going on with this "chalega" attitude, nothing will change.

🤡 🤡 🤡

Buy whatever you want but more importantly is to avoid any self jamming/ electronic fratricide. When you deploy EW it also effects your own systems, and be it anti drone system or the Radar or SATNAV or the Transceivers/comms it comes to pause.

Same time the adversary is also deploying the EW to counter your EW, hence air defence is a very complex operation. You get micro seconds to update the data ( look through).

Whether you are using the K30 or the Indian SPAD GMS , well there will be an advantage when it comes to kinetic kill which is must, but along with that there is an EM spectrum working behind for accuracy and look through.

So investment must also be on the software side to upgrade the spectrum management firmware to the top level of robustness during battle for smart jamming, and notching etc.

The IAF has been addressing the issue of fratricide since losing a Mi-17 in 2019. Its called Vayulink.

This is more of a blue force tracking system than a true TDL as previously believed.

New ad systems are fine tuned for emi/emc compatibility over time during exercises as a rule.

Yes, but this is one small segment, for the manned flight. More is required to IFF unmanned assets like radars, anti drone sys, comms, missiles and drones. So that during EW from Indian side Indian fielded assets don't get jammed due to electronic fratricides
