More likely they're going to emerge as a competition to CABS & possibly cannibalize it.
It may see more hands-on testing by the IAF during its development, so it may be expected to enter operational environments if necessary.
If this does happen, that is, if the IAF personally becomes more involved in this project with DRDO and other subcontractors, we can expect better timelines, better operational(testing) results and so on, right?
When they speak of forces involvement in R&D, it actually means they can try and push maal short of specs with the excuse of the "realities" of R&D.
If the forces are not involved, they end up having to deliver up to specs instead.
