10 soldiers martyred in two attacks on security forces

RAWALPINDI / QUETTA / PESHAWAR: In separate attacks on security forces, an officer and nine soldiers were martyred as terrorists attacked security forces on patrol in North Waziristan and Balochistan.
Six soldiers were martyred in the Gurbaz area of North Waziristan when their patrol came under attack, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The attackers reportedly came from Afghanistan. Islamabad has repeatedly asked Kabul and the command of the NATO forces deployed in the war-torn country to control cross-border infiltration into Pakistan.
The military media wing named the martyred soldiers from the Gurbaz attack as Havaldar Khalid, Sepoy Naveed, Sepoy Bachal, Sepoy Ali Raza, Sepoy M Babar and Sepoy Ahsan.
The bodies of the martyred were shifted to the main city of the district, Miramshah, and the injured were shifted to a military hospital in DI Khan.
In the second attack, an officer and three soldiers were martyred when their convoy was attacked by terrorists while it was travelling between the Hushab and Turbat areas of Balochistan.
The military’s media wing identified the martyred personnel, serving in the paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC), as Captain Aqib, Sepoy Nadir, Sepoy Atif Altaf and Sepoy Hafeezullah.
Condemnations
Prime Minister Imran Khan condemned the attacks and lauded the resolve of the armed forces in the country’s fight against terrorism.
“My condolences and prayers go to the families of the10 brave soldiers, including an officer, martyred fighting terrorists in North Waziristan and Balochistan today,” he added.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa said the attacks were “dying efforts of frustrated inimical forces while Pakistan moves from stability to enduring peace”.
He added that it was time for the world to facilitate regional peace. The army chief also paid tribute to the sacrifice of the martyrs.

Major General Asif Ghafoor, the head of the military’s media wing, condemned the attack and said that while security in tribal areas has improved, further efforts need to be made to ‘solidify the border’ with Afghanistan.
He further said that inimical forces are attempting to destabilise Balochistan.

Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan expressed grief over the martyrdom of the Army soldiers.
“We will eliminate terrorism from the country as the morale of the population is high,” he said. “Enemies of the country will never be successful in their plans.”
Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan also condemned the terror attack in Balochistan.
“Coward terrorists have once again attacked the security forces that are making endless sacrifices for our country,” he said.
Provincial Minister of Balochistan for Information Zahoor Buledi mourned the loss of the captain along with two sepoys who hailed from Swabi and Mastung.
