Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Chhattisgarh : Political Discussions

In addition to time spent in jail vs hospital, pls note that the scam was of 950 cr but the fine is just 60 lakhs plus no news on it's recovery or how does the Court plan to recover it assuming it does want to recover it.

One of the reasons why we see big ticket frauds continuing to occur in India is thanks to this laxity. The popular MO in such cases is - commit a fraud of 1000 cr, offer 100 cr as recovery, keep 200 cr aside to bribe various officials & enjoy the rest, be prepared to spend 1-3 yrs in jail as an undertrial of which a bulk of the time can be spent in hospitals & keep extending the trial as long as possible such that if you're arrested when you're 40 , the trial court pronounces it's verdict when you're 65-70.

After that there's the process of appeals in the HC & SC which can take as much time as the trial court to dispose of the matter. By the time the SC decides the case finally, you may well be 90-95 yrs old if you manage to survive that long which also means you can request the court for leniency given your advanced age & medical issues.

You'd see the same pattern repeated in case of any high profile arrest be it an industrialist, be it a top notch share broker or a politician or any Johnny with such a charge against his name.

If you think what's happening in Maharashtra is bad, think again. The ruling coalition here has one agenda only. Make money for themselves.

With the amount of resources, the state is still in pathetic situation.

Congress which is part of the ruling coalition is actively trying to sabotage development infrastructure projects by instigating tribals for land issues.

To be expected. Congress has just 4 major states where it's in power on it's own or in a coalition . There's Rajasthan where it's in power on it's own & Mh , CG & JK where it's in a coalition . They need money desperately to run the party machinery for the next round of state elections coming up as well as the central elections & there's only so much a JK or CG can contribute .

Of the major states which go for election in a year ,I think they've a good chance in Guj coming towards the end of this year & Kar exactly a year from now - both due to anti incumbency but to achieve that , they need money to run the party machinery as well as campaigning .

Locals talk about engineers and project director of Adani power plant going to Alamgir Alam (congress mla) every month with suitcase so that the project continues.

It's Andher Nagri, Chaupat Raja scene here.

I hope situation improves.

IN A setback for the JMM-led Jharkhand regime, the Election Commission (EC) on Thursday recommended the disqualification of Chief Minister Hemant Soren as MLA under the Representation of the People Act, 1951, The Indian Express has learnt.

Sources said the Commission, in its opinion shared with Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais, found Soren guilty of misusing his position to allot a stone mining lease to himself last year. The Chief Minister also heads the state’s mining department.
