The biggest profit maker of this drama will be bill gates. He might have made more money doing "philanthropic" work with bill and Melinda gates foundation than Microsoft. Bill gates is the second largest contributed to the WHO after the U.S . From CDC to every big pharma company he has invested in all of them. Chinese states media CGTN was there defending bill gates when people questioned over his vaccine claims. No philanthropist gets richer and richer like bill gates. The dude couldn't fix computer viruses how will this idiot fix a real life virus.

About REGN-COV2
REGN-COV2 is a combination of two monoclonal antibodies (REGN10933 and REGN10987) and was designed specifically to block infectivity of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

Interesting but not exactly heartening news. If the UK thinks it requires nearly a year to get it's entire population innoculated, wonder how long would India require? Incidentally the news report says it would take another 6 months or perhaps less for the vaccine to hit the market once it's been certified - which is expected to happen in Dec'20. It also mentions that for a vaccine to be certified as effective it needs a success rate of 50% with the dosage effective for 6 months only. One can imagine the enormity of the import of this singular statement.

Early days yet. With more States opening up especially Maharashtra, expect to see much more cases in the days weeks & months to come. The bad part is nothing much can be done about it. The economy has to be opened up lest people will starve.

Cases of white collar professionals being laid off are on the rise. This is in addition to blue collar professionals already on the receiving end. The less said about contract & daily wage earners the better. People have been so fatigued & exhausted besides being broke that the overwhelming feeling about it's better to die while going out there to work than out of hunger is gaining ground. At least that's the situation in Mumbai. One can extend it to the rest of the nation.The Exchequer has hit the pits - both in the centre & states. States have lost the battle by & large due to lack of infrastructure, apathy - both by the population & the state at large.

Further, No state has the stamina to persist with the lock down beyond October in any case. It's every man for himself & God for all or against all - depending on your viewpoint.

The original lockdown should have lasted several months longer in many cases. That's my takeaway.
 
India lifts restrictions on export of N95 masks
The Commerce Ministry has lifted the restriction on export of N95 masks.

Post the decision, masks of all categories can be exported from India.

"The export policy of N-95/FFP-2 masks or its equivalent is amended from 'restricted' to 'free' category making all types of masks freely exportable," read a notification by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade.

In August, the government had allowed the export of N95 masks, up to a limit of 50 lakh units per month.

Earlier, exports were totally barred to cater to the domestic demand amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The domestic production of masks and PPE overalls have significantly increased in the past six months, and sector players have been asking the government to lift the curb on exports. IANS
