The EU lifted her immunity and she was charged in 2018 under the new law, which post-dates the crime. A law specifically created for her. And then, she was sentenced all the way in 2025, you know, when she is expected to win. And for the first time, a 5-year political ban. All this when France is expected to post its highest voter turnout in favor of the "far-right," essentially a center party vs Marcon and cohort's actual far-left.
The appeal meant to happen in 2026 most likely will fail unless the French take to the streets. Forget Le Pen, even RN's survival is in question if the public do not show overwhelming support, like they have done in Romania, or like they did in the US for Trump.
