When India started addressing Pakistan’s atrocities in Balochistan for the first time, it was a remarkable change in India’s foreign policy. His speech also shed light on his views on the same when he said, “Pakistan's vulnerability is many many times higher than that of India's. Once they know India has shifted to offensive defence they will find it is unaffordable for them. You can do one Mumbai you may lose Balochistan.”
The suggestions by Doval, which is called ‘Double Squeeze Strategy’, is premised on the clear understanding of Pakistan. Externally, Doval recommends that India should give a hard-hitting response to terrorists and their masters. Simultaneously, India should make Pakistan bear the cost of terrorist acts sponsored by its deep state.
Doval concluded his speech with asserting the need for “A strong, decisive leadership to give a strong message to terrorists and its sponsors and provide security to the citizens.”
After five years, India's response to Pakistani terror is no more defensive. With the Indian Air Force avenging the Pulwama terror attack, India has proved it once again that for each terrorist attack hatched by Pakistan on Indian soil, ‘the place where the offence is coming from’ will have to pay a very heavy price
No offense to whosoever wrote it, but ... whatever!
No action was taken on Baluchistan front after PM Modi addressing it in Aug 2015 and (Mr Brahma Chellany was it? Not very sure) some one claiming Pakistan will be broken within one year.
That address and failure to follow it through, was a big failure and a sign of weakness, which was taken at its face and place value and responded to.
For all the hoopla over the so called Doval Doctrine, a very sorry picture has emerged under both his and PM Modi's stewardship. It stemmed from the over hyped miscalculation in actual preparedness of our forces, our country and our polity to deal with Pakistan in a manner befitting a self respecting and strong nation.
In 2015 we were mobilized on exercises, the intent seemed there was something to be done, nothing officially we were told, we were on our routine desert exercise, but the formation was moving from depth after 03 years, as a whole and that takes tremendous amount of money and resources. And we came back. Still feeling that something had to be done which was not done.
Similarly, the situation seems to be panning out. The momentum to undertake a decisive military action to create a position for political resolution, is fast being lost. A nation and its citizens have a very short attention span and the public support that exists now, may not remain for long.
I suggest take such write ups for exactly what they are, write ups.
