Their attitude has been extremely hostile and negative towards us though. Let's see how much they are willing to mend their anti-India stance. This joint exercise is a move in the right direction. Rest, only time will tell!

Nothing to do with china. Their attitude was the same pre 2000's. Its because of human rights activism around Kashmir.

Makes sense. I don't think they would want to jeopardize billions of dollars in commercial deals, though. They would be at risk of being locked out of the Indian market. The Italians are still trying to make amends after the AW101 VIP helo kicknacks scandal.

Truth is we had a rather reactive foriegn policy in the past. Today, we have found our footing on the world stage. Dr. Jaishankar's diplomatic skills will make the Germans see our pov.
