That's the closest date to the realistic timeline on induction, ever announced by any military wing of India so far. Kudos to IA on that.Indian Army draws lessons from Ukraine war, revises artillery requirements
The Indian Army expects to achieve its target of converting the entire artillery to medium 155 mm gun systems by 2042www.thehindu.com
Nothing good mentioned here. The target is 2042.
There isn't much "existing" to begin with. Pakistan has a better artillery all around even today. When you add chinese build up in LAC, IA is thin on artillery systems in any given day.Well some systems are in sort of feasibility stage, we know the 300mm long range rockets project is active. Plus there are private projects, in previous call Solar group said Army is yet to give green signal for their suo moto proposal of 130km-250km arty system. So they are not in a hurry due to existing heavy stock. Most likely many existing ammo will be regrained, refurbed before the newly mentioned systems come anywhere close to being inducted.
But its good that they are moving ahead with plans, it should make the involved dcpp companies more serious, both domestic & export front.
At this point in time I am convinced that the Indian Army's Arty dilemma is not a result of incompetence but sheer connivance by a nexus comprised of MoD, Military Brass, and Commission Agents. There isn't much "existing" to begin with. Motive is very clear they want ATHOS at any cost. No surprise it is tailor made RFI.
The gun in question was the Autonomous Towed Howitzer Ordnance System (ATHOS), built by Israeli firm Elbit, which was in the reckoning for a mega contract from the Indian Army for over a decade.
The RFI sent out in December had said that the weight of the gun system “be preferably less than 15 tons”. This clause is why the Israeli firm is back in the race for supplying the ATHOS to the Indian Army.
Given that the ATHOS weighs less than 15 tons while the ATAGS is well over 18 tons, industry sources see the new RFI as an opening for the Israeli weapon system.
Not ATAGS, Vajra or Dhanush. A new gun will be the mainstay of Indian Artillery
On 197th Gunners' Day, a look at how the Indian Army’s artillery regiment is arming itself. The Army is looking at acquiring 400 TGS which can operate in all terrains.theprint.in
ATAGS has been killed by dalal army even before it's induction. Since AON will be issued under iddm (most probable) so adani has to do some modifications in order to claim it as indigenous. Big fraud is loading in front of us & no one will say anything.
