Indian Defense Industry General News and Updates

You are free to beleive whatever you want.
We don't even buy a simple mobile phone if expectations are not up to the mark, and here we are forcing force to fight war exclusive made in india toys, which have a ridiculous history of chunking our bad quality engineering product.
Indigenous weapons are better than imported ones and cheaper too.

Its cheaper, agreeing on that. But on what basis you are telling that its better than imported one?
Rule of thumb: when Hydra starts bitching, don't bother. Dude is comparing mobile phones to missiles. 'Nuff said.
Yeah cheap mobile wont bring defeat to us in battle field, but a weapon system does. We have Insas story to learn.

1) There is no guarantee that each every OEM or country willing to collaborate with you for domestic product.
2) Still you will need to buy what you have built here, its a secured market for PSUs & pvt entities.

@Tatvamasi when you have a monopoly, always the looser will be consumers. Either they will need to pay hefty price w. r. t quality.
There is way to enhance domestic defense industry, just give user & producers tax waiver if the product is of indian origin.

Make some sense. What does this have to do with the quoted text?

@Gautam DRDO has developed common aperture system for seeker and MSS then why don't they use it in EO pod?.
EO pods are probably the only kind of aerial pod DRDO hasn't developed yet. DRDO already has EW & ESM pods in various stages of induction. There was a SAR pod for Su-30MKI under development too. Since 2013-14 there has been no further updates on that.

For EO pods we remain reliant on Israeli & French companies. BEL had tried developing a EO pod by themselves, couldn't get the IAF or IN interested. I believe DRDO will jump in whenever IAF begins looking for replacements for the Rafael Litening pods. Ideally you'd want to start early & have a product ready before the IAF starts looking for replacements. But I don't think we will see that kind of initiative.
