Programme SAMUDRIKA aims at the design and indigenous development of a family of Seven Electronic Warfare Systems meeting the requirements of Navy for different platforms viz., Ships, Helicopters and Aircrafts, with a firm commitment from Navy for quantity production and induction of these Systems. Seven EW/ESM systems are grouped under two projects namely Ship-Borne projects & Air-Borne Projects. Ship-borne systems are SHAKTI, NAYAN and TUSHAR. Air-Borne systems are SARANG, SARAKSHI, SARVADHARI and NIKASH.Order has been placed by Indian Navy for 12 Nos. of Shakti and 07 Nos. of Nayan systems.

1. Shakti EW
Shakti is an Integrated Radar EW System for Capital ships with Electronic Support (ES) System and integrated Radar Finger Printing System (RFPS) covering B to K frequency band and Electronic Counter Measure (ECM) System covering H to K frequency band.
Salient features and Technologies Involved:
1. Wide Open Reception capability in D to K frequency band.
2. Narrow Band Receiver for LPI reception capability with narrow and broad instantaneous bandwidths.
3. Base Line Interferometer (BLI) DF measurement technique and Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) DF
measurement technique to achieve high DF accuracy.
4. Microwave Power Module (MPM) based muti-beam transmitter using Rotman lens.
5. DRFM based Technique Generator with wide instantaneous bandwidth for various jamming techniques
Current Status:
The system is in advanced stage of evaluation by the Users

2. DRDO Nayan
NAYAN is a Communication Intelligence (COMINT) system for Ship borne platform covering V/UHF frequency band. The system is capable of interception, monitoring, Direction Finding and Analysis of
communication signals in this band
Salient features and Technologies Involved:
1. Five channel Scan Direction Finding sub system for fast spectral search, reconnaissance and
real time accurate direction finding
2. 2-channel monitoring and analysis sub system for analysis, monitoring and recording (voice
and data) of communication signal
3. Provides an instantaneous azimuth coverage of 360° and elevation coverage of ±15°.
4. Capability to detect Burst, Frequency Hopping and data transmission signals.
5. Capability of data demodulation and signal classification.
Current Status:
The system is undergoing User Evaluation Trials on the platform.
