Indian Electronic Warfare (EW) Systems: News and Updates

That's the eventual plan. 5 for Western and 5 for Northern/Eastern Sector. Next batch of S-400 will have even better interoperability with our future/current AWACS fleet. Combine this with MKI launching Mach 6, 400kms range R-37M and our A2/AD coverage extends beyond conventional measures plus our enemy is completely gonna get effed🤣

Any truth to rumors that India is also buying Russia's Krashuka ew system? It can be used to shield the electronic signature of the IAFs S400 batteries.

If true, the acquisition of Pantsir would also make sense from the EMI/EMC pov.

While Krashuka-2 EW is on offer, we haven't made our minds yet regarding it. While it will be a great addition(if procured), gotta admit that our DharaShakti EW is not a joke either and I rate it higher than the Russian system.

What's your take on Krashuka 2 vs Dharashakti for us?

Pantsir acquisition looks almost certain and the way Russians are offering their every battle-tested cutting edge systems to us, we may even procure Krashuks 2 too.

Can't really compare them in detail due to lack of information. The Russian system is more mature, but Dharashakti is more easily upgradeable.

Dharashakti is more suitable for Indian systems as a whole while Krasukha is more suitable for the S-400 due to easy integration, so it can be used in an isolated capacity by S-400 units for unit survival.

Dharashakti has been designed for network warfare and provides comprehensive all-round EW while Krasukha has been designed for autonomous operations and works in isolation as demanded by Russian doctrine against some types of airborne targets like AWACS, J-STARS, satellites etc.

The main purpose of Krasukha-2 is to prevent S band radars from mapping the S-400. So it's a complementary system. Krasukha-4 provides protection from X and Ku bands. Dharashakti is for multi-band, multi-domain networked ops.

The system will modernise the Indian Army units and strengthen the indigenous defence manufacturing ecosystem of the country. The contract reinforces Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi-led Government's commitment to Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make-in-India in the defence sector.

Also, Dharashakti covers a wider spectrum like communication, radar, seekers, and even satellites. Its radar EW component sort of looks like AN/SLQ-32

Krasukha works in S, X, and Ku bands, so it attacks radars, seekers, and satellites, including communication, in those bands, whereas Dharashakti is deeply networked, and being newer it uses more AI and cloud.

Krasukha networks via the S-400's C2.

Upgraded Krasukha variants now work in L, K, and Ka bands as well.

For HF they have Murmansk BN.

For VHF, they have R330 series.

Afaik, Dharashakti's jammer is the same as the Navy's Shakti EW suite.

Cont'd: Esm and jammer antenna*
