Indian Naval Aviation : Updates and Discussions

True that. Much longer range for MR though. Standard Harpoon Block II range is around 130km iirc.

Doubt the SLAM-ER version with 300km range would be available to us. But who needs it anyway.
Yes, when first heard about 300km like range from the AAv 2023 prob it was surprising given not primarily rocket motor based and we lacked in subsonic turbojet making.
can they use the short range versions IIR seeker on the mid range article like this ? if only terminal activation then prob can do with some minor enhanced thermal battery maybe.

Maybe something derived from the Helina seeker? It has 7 km LOAL capability iirc. That'd be decent enough. NASM-MR is going to be a sea-skimmer anyway.

Can't drop torpedoes.

I remember reading in a forum back in the day that Do-228 had an unspecified AShM capability. Can't imagine what it might be. Now, NASM-SR/MR are interesting options.

But as our third-line MPA (after P-8I and soon C-295) maybe it doesn't need to be armed.
