Spanish Ship Mendez Nunez Visits Goa

Spanish Navy Ship Mendez Nunez arrived at Mormugao Port on 01 Aug 19 at 0900 h . Commander Antonio Gonzalez del Tanago de la Strada , the Commanding Officer of the ship called on Rear Admiral Philipose Pynumootil, Flag Officer Commanding Goa Area on the same day.
A number of activities between Indian Navy and the visiting Spanish warship are planned during the ship's three day stay at Goa. These include a volleyball match, training visit to the ship and INS Hansa in addition to reciprocal receptions.
Mendez Nunez, with pennant number F-104, is a Multipurpose Frigate in service with Spanish Navy. The ship was commissioned on 21 Mar 2006 and is based at Naval Base, Ferrol in Spain. She is 147 m long and has a tonnage of more than 6000 tons. The ship is capable of doing a speed of more than 50 Kilometres per Hour and has a range of more than 5000 nautical mile. The ship is fitted with Harpoon Surface to Surface Missiles, Sea Sparrow Surface to Air Missiles and a 5 inch caliber gun. A Seahawk Lamps III helicopter is also carried onboard. The ship has a crew of 24 officers and 177 sailors. The ship will depart Goa on 04 Aug 19.
As part of naval diplomacy, the Indian Navy regularly interacts with foreign navies of the world, cementing Indian Navy's image as a Net Security Provider in Indian Ocean region.

Army Scout Masters Competition 2019: Troops gear up ahead of event

The competition will be held at Jaisalmer in Rajasthan and a total of eight countries--Armenia, Belarus, China, India, Kazakhstan, Russian Federation, Uzbekistan and Sudan-- are participating.

Ahead of the commencement of the fifth edition of the Army Scout Masters Competition from August 5-16, the practice sessions have reached their final leg. The competition will be held at Jaisalmer in Rajasthan and a total of eight countries--Armenia, Belarus, China, India, Kazakhstan, Russian Federation, Uzbekistan and Sudan-- are participating.

On Thursday, the Army tweeted that all the countries are training at their respective time slots to hone and fine-tune their skills. "Practice sessions for Army Scout Masters Competition are in final leg prior to commencement of the event on 5 Aug 2019. All the 7 countries are training at their respective time slots to hone and fine-tune their skills," tweeted the Army.

Their activities include--a) Infiltration and Ambush Exercise; b) Scout Specialists Course; c) Scout Trail Obstacle Course; d) Small Arms Firing; e) Exfiltration and Floatation.

The competition is designed to promote co-operation, collaboration and team spirit among the contestants and facilitate sharing of best practices, technology and hardware. The five stages of the competition will test the marksmanship, navigation skills, endurance and teamwork amongst the teams under an international panel of judges, experts and arbiters.

The Army Scout Masters Competition will be conducted under the established format of competition amongst Scouts and will offer unique challenges and opportunities keeping in mind the spirit of adventure, courage, comradeship and true spirit of the Army Games.

The event aims to enhance international military to military and technical co-operation between the states participating in the Scout Masters Competition. It also seeks to promote the prestige of military service in general and Scouts in particular and assist the proliferation of best practices in field training amongst the participant states.

The competitions also strive to develop competitiveness amongst scouts participating in the competition and display combat capabilities and characteristic of modern type of weapons, military equipment and technical means of reconnaissance.

Army Scout Masters Competition 2019: Troops gear up ahead of event
 
Japanese Maritime Self Defence Ship Visits Kochi

A missile destroyer, JS Sazanami of the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF), commanded by Commander Shoji Ishkawa, is on a two day goodwill visit to Kochi from 13 Aug 19. The Commanding Officer accompanied by Coast Guard Superintendent Koichiro Maeda, Commanding Officer, of the Somalia Dispatch Team of the Japanese Coast Guard, and Capt Taiko Eda, Resident Defense Attaché of Japan at New Delhi called on Vice Admiral Anil Kumar Chawla, AVSM, NM, VSM, Flag Officer Commanding -in- Chief, Southern Naval Command on 13th August, and interacted over professional subjects of common interests to both navies.
During the stay at Kochi, various activities such as visit of IN personnel onboard JS Sazanami and professional interaction between the two navies were conducted. The visiting crew were also given a conducted tour of the Anti-Submarine Warfare School and the Naval Offshore Patrol Vessel, INS Sunayna.
JS Sazanami with about 25 officers, 156 sailors and eight Japanese Coast Guard personnel (3 officers + 5 sailors) on board for the current deployment is planned to depart for Bahrain on 14 Aug 19.

Kind of hard to beat the Indians on Indian soil, huh ? Look at the difference in final points, this is cricket all over again. The Uzbeks put up a fight in a terrain and environment that was unknown to them, kudos to them. What happened to the Russians ? The heat got them ?
