It took them more than 3yrs to make it way for induction, the western & northern trials took place in 2022, only the eastern front trials were left, from then on to 2026, for a drone where army was directly involved in it, from developing the drone to trials,
The redtape bureaucracy needs to go,

Our biggest enemy is the Indian procurement policy,

These type of drones can really make the difference, as it's not a conventional loitering drone like shahed -136, it's a modular drone, we can swap the engine and payload as per operational requirement,
Works in GPS denied environment,
You can get ISR capability at a range of 1000km with 20hr endurance,
And that for low cost, it bridges the gap between small ISR to MALE drones, and it's a High altitude drone, the interception cost will be more than the drone itself, and large numbers of them can easily saturate the enemy AD, as unlike shahed, geran or other similar drones can be taken out by small drone interceptors, anti aircraft guns, which are low cost & the best solution, but for taking out something that flies above 20000ft you need to burn the AD missiles, even with manpad you can't shoot them, 1000126224.jpg

The weapon of recent wars, whether it is the one between Ukraine and Russia or the one Iran is fighting against the United States of America and Israel, is the drone, for reconnaissance and for strikes against targets. Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) is readying a drone, bigger than the Iranian Shahed, and can carry weapons and be used for reconnaissance, Dr DK Sunil, chairman and managing director of HAL told Times Now.

HAL Working on ‘Larger Bird’ Drone Project

Dr Sunil said HAL is working on a “larger bird,” compared with the more “compact” Shahed, while many Indian private sector firms are looking at smaller drones. The Indian army has already decided to increasing using drones, with infantry battalions getting "birds" to increase reconnaissance capabilities at a tactical level. Besides this, the Indian armed forces have the Israeli Heron and the Search II while the deal for the highly-rated MQ-9 (31 of them) is already done. Once ready, this dual use drone will be available for the armed forces.
