My latest blog piece analyses what we have done after we announced the suspension of the Indus water treaty. While there has been a lot of talk, there has not been much movement on the ground and perhaps a lack of understanding of what is possible.
My finding is that if all are announced projects are built and completed on schedule, we might by 2035, be able to divert 5% of the Indus water away from Pak - though that is not as bad as it sounds.
Interesting little tid-bit that I found floating around. Straight from the man himself. There was a report quite a while ago that stated the same thing. Interesting how things have changed and how they have remained the same.
EAM Jaishankar in Azerbaijan: North-South corridor to Middle-East Conflict in focus during bilateral. He said, “"During the meeting that I've had subsequently with the Foreign Minister, our talks dwelt on further expanding our bilateral relations. We spoke about economic cooperation, including in trade, investment and energy, which are central to our bilateral ties. Given our complementary economies, we believe that there is very good scope for further enhancement of our bilateral trade and investment. We also discussed various activities and exchanges, how do we take this forward and I think you heard from the Foreign Minister the recent big investment from India in the Azerbaijani economy. Now, Indian companies have been here for quite a few years in fairly large numbers, but of particular importance is our investment in the oil energy sector. Today, we agreed that we should now look at deepening that, but also expanding to other areas.”
