MRAPs are capable of protecting troops around 30kg of IEDs. Freedom fighters will simply increase size of IEDs. There is no magic bullet to solving these casualties. Constant presence of troops along the route, roadblock checks and surveillance is right approach militarily. Politically they should listen to natives, give them jobs and possibly accept their demands of autonomy or freedom.

The events in the past couple days in Pakistan reinforces the lessons we learnt from our sustained operations across Kashmir, NE and erstwhile Naxal areas, and from the experiences of NATO and US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan: If IED/ explosives teams are allowed to set up shop safe and sound, high casualty strikes are merely a matter of when not if. It's impossible to stop every single attempt and in that process it ties down too many troops and imposes too much of caution on own movement.
This is why this year the moment it became clear that there was a determined attempt to set up multiple IED specialist teams in Kashmir the IA and SFs went into a massive overdrive to stamp out these units before they gained operational experience. This is the only effective way of prevention such high casualty attacks.

I think we need lessons in propaganda here. Ayesha Siddiqa seems to be more concerned about how an alternative lobby is emerging under PA / ISI patronage. Talk about inherent insecurity & sheer jealousy.
If you've observed the Paxtani establishment & their minions in the media over the years, the narrative has slipped from hoisting the Paxtani flag on Red Fort to taking Kashmir to getting the Kashmiris their right to self determination to now winning the narrative on Kashmir. Every move of course having already resulted in victory.
