1. In a way, they've already started nibbling around the edges of this with things like Triple Talaq.

2. SC is running out of time, either they get their shit together and give the right judgment soon, or Gvt will have an excuse to put judiciary in its place.

3. NRC + CAB process is well underway, though it may take a while. And care has to be taken that CAB is firmly in place soon so there are no Hindu/Dharmic Refugees who unintentionally get victimized by NRC.

You think GoI don't know that Pakistan will respond. They are prepared and want Pakistan to respond be it today tomorrow or after an year. And India will simply declare war to crush the economy of Pakistan further. India will make sure that Pakistan don't even get another chance to trouble back.

This is why your military is silent and looking for right opportunity to hit back but there is no right opportunity, there is simply declaration of war if they do it.

Ever since 47, they have had wet dreams of taking over Jammu, Ladakh in addition to Kashmir. Having J&K as one big state allowed them to claim the entire state. Making them into two states and increasing the constituency in Jammu allows a lot more integration and vastly reduces the influence of the miscreants in the valley have on other two areas. The other major talking point is the change in demography which will happen over time. Return of Kashmiri pundits and all the people the investment will bring into the new states.

Not to mention, the next investors conference will be entirely focused on the two new states. If that succeeds and we can get at least $10-15 billion worth of investment. Their dream of Kashmir is as good as dead. Now the tables turn on PoK.

And just before this resolution in parliament, CM of Uttarakhand had a Himalyan States confrence to develop the Himalayan states, looks like there will be a highway or economic corridor from J&K to Arunachal.
