I don't know how true this is. But here we go :

IPS Officer K. Vijay Kumar, has extensive experience in J&K with CRPF, before he was deputed to STF to take down Veerappan.
Also he had a stint with CRPF in Chhatisgarh leading the anti-naxal ops.
A fine choice for Lt. Gov. me thinks.

You think third option is humanly possible in 21st century? you will kill 5 million people? Think about the magnitude of what you said and then you will wonder why an average kashmiri find it difficult to trust true intentions of Indians (as they do differentiate)
If 5 millions pick up gun, then 5 millions it will be. There's no returning from that point.

Of course there will be chances for surrender, etc.

PS: You do realize the 2nd point. I am not even asking them to agree to everything. Agree on being Indian, agree to Indian Constitution. Or even call themselves Indian.

The only thing, the only matter. No guns. The moment someone picks up gun. That's a threat to billion plus Indians on whoes taxes they survive. And their safety is of Paramount importance for me.

Now that friday has passed, next test is 15 Aug. If nothing happens by then we can shrug and move on.
By Monday expect communication to be back. Thats when the 100+ Terrorists still in valley will be able to contact each other and start any kind of attacks on security personnel. That will also be a crucial point.

They are waiting for curfew to be lifted off , look even militants have gone cold. When curfew lifts off , some militants might mix with stone pelters are fire on forces and resulting fire may lead to some casualties or Pulwama 2.0

Nah, mate, it is too early to say that. Let the curfew be over.. You have not seen the politicians free - neither local nor national politicians are allowed anything... there is a serious element of propaganda on this that all is well from our govt side. Yesterday Ghulam Nabi Azad was not allowed in his home city (he is a Raja Sabha Member) and today Yechuri was returned from the airport. The 'easing' is very specific and targeted at this moment to create a positive mood and hope all goes well.

No point in lower the guard or setting unrealistic expectations.

The real action will begin when some of the top leaders will get free and press is allowed free movement.
