Japanese Type 10 tanks and Type 89 infantry fighting vehicles are equipped with anti-drone canopies to protect them from drone munitions. It's worth noting that this protection is no longer sufficient. The video shows tanks and infantry fighting vehicles from the 71st Tank Regiment and the 11th Mechanized Infantry Regiment of the Japan Self-Defense Forces during the AC-TESC exercise.
Type 10 tanks were accepted into service by the Japan Self-Defense Forces in 2012 and are equipped with a 120mm gun. Type 89 infantry fighting vehicles have been produced since 1989 and are equipped with a 35mm gun.

Japan’s island-defense glide missile seen at Camp Fuji

Key Points
  • New video shows Japan's Type 25 Hyper Velocity Gliding Projectile launcher arriving, raising into firing position and withdrawing at Camp Fuji.
  • Japan deployed the missile to Camp Fuji on March 31 and plans new units in Hokkaido and Kyushu during fiscal 2026.
The Defense Ministry says the current Block 1 version has a range of several hundred kilometers. Japanese media have reported figures of up to 900 km (560 miles). The ministry is developing longer-range versions, with a goal of 1,000 to 2,000 km, and a later Block 2 with a more advanced glide body is planned for the 2030s.
