Brahmos is an anti ship missile. A heavy and deadly missile (but still not war proven. Is its seeker good?). It's far than enough, be sure.Iam still not satisfied with the armament on the ship, only 16 brahmos?
The Chinese have a minimum of 90+ missiles on each ship....and still there is ample space left?
Why is it so hard for our planners to design a deadly ship?
It's not 90+. It's 64 VLS ( ASM, LR SAM and quad packed MRSAM) for type 52D. The advantage is the flexibility to pack the 64 with different types of missiles, based on mission.Brahmos is an anti ship missile. A heavy and deadly missile (but still not war proven. The 90+ for the chinese figure are SAM, not anti ship ones.

Kolkata class does not have that flexibility. It's 16 Brahmos and 32 Barak 8 LR SAMs.
I read that too. If you look at the ship size, currently the missile compartments occupy minimal space.I've read somewhere that there is enough space on the Kolkata for future upgrades.
Then we're looking at anyway between a 50-100% upgrade in such VLS/ULS systems .I read that too. If you look at the ship size, currently the missile compartments occupy minimal space.

That's 32+32. What about the nos of Brahmos?Does it remain static at 16?We should easily be able to double the Barak-8 numbers.
I would assume they will add at least 8 Nirbhay missile launchers at a later stage. That's 32+32. What about the nos of Brahmos?Does it remain static at 16?

There is space between Brahmos launchers and Barak 8 on the front deck. Extra Barak 8 can be accommodated at the rear side of the ship.Yeah. There's no space to expand the Brahmos inventory anymore.

Correct. But considering that navy designers have overall done a good job with Kolkata class, I would expect them to load the ship with similar no of Anti ship missiles as destroyers from other countries or at least leave space for future up-gradation. In case they didn't leave space in Kolkata class, they would have definitely fixed that in Vishakhapatanam class. Since Vizag class did not go through any major structural changes, it can assumed with high probability that Navy designers have already taken care of that aspect. After all if we can see the issue, the professionals must have thought it through.Too early to say anything. We don't know what's underneath it.
At the rear too, there's the two hangars.
