Let them try canards, it will not help. We will have another Rafale with extremely high alpha approaches to reduce landing speeds.Tejas Mk2 jig tender
Looks like Canards are mostly confirmed.

What is the use of stub wing here? The canards need a vertical separation and horizontal separation based as a percentage of wing MAC to deliver best performance and the aircraft must be designed accordingly. LCA is a high wing aircraft and now adding canards to it will not give much of a benefit as the vertical separation of Ymac of 0.15 can't be applied. What ADA is trying is that they are trying to provide crutches to a guy without legs.
Noob question : Is engine nozzle length of a fighter plane considered while measuring it's entire length.View attachment 4290

Fuselage Length - 13.9 m
Mk1 Length - 13.2 m
Empty structural weight - 1800 Kg (approx. excluding Wings/Tail/Canards)
No. of units - 24/year
Is it air force version or naval version? I'm no expert but it looks naval version to me.

M5 amd Kfir used fixed canards. M2K used stub wings to provide vortex flow at higher alpha to re-enrgise the airflow around rudders and also better lift thru wing-stub wing vortex interaction. What is the use of stub wing here?

The design is unfit for CCC. It will need major tweaks to make CCC work.MKII call for tenders just showed up. Guess what? It will be equipped with close coupled moving canards.

Canard addition should make it a completely new design, also incorporating stealth is something ADA/HAL must work on. The front by no means looks like a stealth design and addition of canards will add to RCS, I hope they figure something out.
One positive point, this time the designer ADA is working closely with the manufacturer HAL, it will make MK2 easy to manufacture.
