Dropping 200 F-35s for 200 of the new jet could imply cutting down sustainment costs by 2 times, making the remaining 1500 F-35s more affordable.

These nations selected the F-35 because of its own merit you're just butt hurt that your crappy nation's air force is inferior to a bunch of chicoms and that the US has not offered India the F-35. The number of TR modules in the F-35's radar is wrong. The section which says 420 is actually 390. Someone's counted the protrusion instead of the dip, plus the supports. The dip is what you count, so instead of 14x30, you actually get 13x30. Same with the rest.

It's a stepped taper design. Not Vivaldi.

No one said all 1600+ will be used for radar functions alone. You can even embed T/R modules for other bands without any radar functions. So you can have 1000+ modules functioning as radar and the remaining 600 doing something else entirely. Array cheography will take care of the rest.

Even DRDO's new AWACS radar combines S and L band on a single array.
