Given the current state of our squadrons, this is impossible. Mirage 2000s are quite capable and have also gone through multiple upgrades. I don't see them getting retired any time soon.

The way I look at it an inut from 2019 was that it's better to keep jets away from enemy lines- if the pilot gets shot down we will be forced to stop all operations and compromise. I think they'd have taken ths into account and prevented exposure to such risk.
It could even be an ingressing pakistani jet shot down by Akash systems. Let's wait for official confirmation.

Depends on magnitude of loss. Pakistan (PAF) has not been able to hit any Indian target - so air battle with equal/proportional loss after India used missiles to strike deep into Pak will be seen as a loss of face for Pak military. Unlikely for them to call it a day.
