People's Republic of China (PRC) : News & Discussions

It should be normal that NASA is still working with Russia on the International Space Station.

The most interesting result of this war will be the amount of western tech like failed Brimstones, bayraktars, javelins and other hardware that will be taken by Russian and researched and then sent to China.
We will see russian and chinese clones of nlaws and other western hardware. Even maybe russians and chinese clones of western small arms

Now you're just being silly... Brimstones never fail.

I wonder if there's any risk of people copying Russian tech? :ROFLMAO:

Didn't they get a Brimstone.

Heck the entire reason pakistan and China have tomahawk class cruise missiles was because of one tomahawk crashing intact in Pakistan during american invasion of Afghanistan (if I'm not wrong). This stuff is going to get in the hands of the Chinese once the Russians are done with it.

No, it's a fake, the dent is caused by the Ukrainian watermark being removed. It was a picture taken by Ukraine.

But some of the hardware has already fallen to the russians. Like the nlaws, western small arms and more. So by the next 5 years we might end up seeing Russian and chinese equivalents in the market.

Are they really so dumb that they can't design an NLAW equivalent by themselves? :ROFLMAO:

They are technologically behind. Right now Russians are also behind us in some tech. They have experienced massive brain-drain to the west. They don't have much money for research or atleast can't invest as much money as they require. The Russians are far more innovative than Americans but their lack of money has been a massive weakness to really complete their designs. It's essentially a white saudi arabia for all matters and purposes.
The Russians have some niche tech where the west hasn't covered up still like supersonics, hypersonics. But those systems are too expensive to be mass produced so have limited effect in a war.
Their conventional warfare tech is quite backward but reliable. Their electronics and radar tech is primitive even for us now. That's why the flankers and mig's are being indigenously upgraded. Our mig 29upg's are most likely superior to their mig-35's and will be decisively superior once the uttam aesa radar is integrated. Heck the tejas is better than Russian mig29's and mk1a will be superior to their mig-35's.
For comparison Russians are behind in most conventional tech to west. Such as:
>Armour, FCS for armoured vehicles.
>Soft kill systems
>Electronic warfare
>Artillery although russian rocket artillery is superior to western rocket artillery but lacks in the accuracy of western rocket artillery. Sph artillery of the west is far superior to the russians
>small arms. Although the 5.45 is superior to the 5.56 the west has more modular weapons with superior optics.
>Anti-ship missiles. Only in subsonic. Russian ashm's are superior in terms of speed and warhead size.
>Atgm's

I know but they would need to be technologically retarded not to be able to design their own NLAW equivalent. And simply acquired a launcher plus missile won't teach or build them how to design 5-7nm processors or circuits.

If they were really more innovative they wouldn't lack money, and this war will wipe out their defence R&D budget if nothing else.

They are really ahead in anything. The US just spends longer perfecting things before productionising them. X-43 was faster than any Russian missile, RS-85 Dolos and HTV pre-date Russian equivalents by a decade. AMARV pre-dates Russian stuff by 3 decades.

I was told for years before this war that they were ahead on EW on this very forum.

6.8mm is likely to be the new round. Heckler & Koch G11 would have been way more advanced than any other rifle had the Cold War not stopped.

Yeah, but stopping one Mach 2-3 missile is easier than stopping 4 subsonic missiles, and they both have about the same weight comparing Russian to US.

Well yeah, I have flown the Ka-50 and Su-25 on DCS, and Vikhr-Ms are utter gash. Unless you come in high and steep they tend to crash into the ground before reaching the target. I expect this is why Ka-52s and Mi-28s have been ineffective in Ukraine. No such problems with Hellfire or Brimstone.
