Arent the rajputs bascically testing ships now rather than ships that can do meaning-full combat duty unless India is extremely desperate.

They should be around for a while, 10-15 yra atleast. The Delhis have just been through a MLU. The remaining Rajputs will also soldier on for a few more years after being refitted with Brahmos inclined launchers.

P-17/A were a replacement for the Leander class but the IN has chosen chosen to re-engine the last remaining hulls (Brahmaputra class) with modern diesels to keep them around for a few more years.

Iirc, only INS Rana has been a testbed for VLSRSAM, Brahmos et all. The remaining hulls are fully combat capable with a modern sensor, weapon fit.
