are we seeing New Pennant Number Designs and positions in all IN ships?
So, they are considering repeat orders for Project-17A.
So beautiful, notice the other ships hull work pretty ahead.
I'm sure this has been pointed out already, but aren't these new Nilgiri "frigates" a bit under equipped for their size? They are nearly 7k tons which is basically destroyer size. Most ships of comparable tonnage are better equipped VLS wise. The closest equivalent appears to be the FREMM, which also feels under-gunned for it's displacement. Type 54 and admiral gorshkov frigates do more with less tonnage. The various Japanese destroyers of similar size are also heavily saturated with VLS cells. Is this intentional? is the IN waiting for the brahmos-ng or nirbhay?
Was supposed to have happened last month, no updates AFAIK. Don't know if they are even close.
Though I am not very accustomed to sizes but the ship seems pretty huge ? Frigates are how big normally? I mean when that video started it was almost at halfway and it kept sliding for quite a while to reach end.

Third stealth frigate of project 17A ‘Taragiri’ launched
The keel of 'Taragiri' was laid on September 10, 2020. The ship is expected to be delivered by August 2025, the statement said.

The ship will be fitted with a 76mm main gun, two 30 mm AK-630M anti-aircraft artillery systems, two torpedo tubes, launchers for eight BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles and 32 Barak-8 surface to air missiles. Its main radar will be the MF-STAR by IAI.

- Length: 149 meters
- Width: 17,8 meters
- Draft: 5,22 meters
- Speed: 28 knots
- Range: 5,500 nautical miles
- Crew: 226 sailors
Frigate level firepower, destroyer level endurance, hence the big size. A lot of space is taken up by the RBU-6000 as well.
Japanese ships are giants.
Our man wants to further increase his company's stock prices. Take salt as needed. Right now NGD is the next big program.
The IN has to pay for 2 sub and 1 LHD programs and a carrier this decade, alongside the NGD and corvettes. It's unlikely for the IN to begin new frigates anytime this decade.
The IN has a sanctioned strength of 24 frigates and the current contracts will give them 23. Originally, NGF was planned, but IN chose 4 more Talwars to save money and time. The earliest replacement is 2040s, when the Brahmaputras and old Talwars are retired. So it makes sense a new frigate program will only begin in the 2030s instead of in just 3-4 years.
Otoh, the IN needs 5 new destroyers to get to 15, hence the need for NGD. So the NGF can become part of a much bigger expansion of the navy after 2030.
The arm launcher is still there. Let's see if it will be present on the actual warship on not. One more thing to notice, it carries SRGM.Advanced Missile Frigate 1135.6 (follow-on Talwar class) by Goa shipyard.
One of the Talwar class after its repair already sports a SRGM. This feature will likely be adopted uniformly.
