T-90 Bhishma / T-72 Ajeya of Indian Army : News and Discussions

I guess its sort of desi jugaad with increased firepower ?
Don't know much about this stuff, but feels like upgrading existing hulls to t90 class firepower wise, instead of full built t90 from scratch.
Does this move convert all the T-72s to T-90? Cause, T-90 is nothing but T-72 with T-80 turret! So if our Army is upgrading all T-72s with T-90 turret and engine then they literally become the T-90.

That's a serious and very canny firepower upgrade👍

Absolute zero idea about vehicle stuff for myself :p but would be very happy if they could do desi jugaad & turn old hulls into T90 firepower.
Well till now how many t 72 variants are in the indian army and in which number??
I have heard t72 Ajeya numbers are around 2000-2100s, T90 in about 900-1000 could be slightly more. If those orders of 464 T90 are fulfilled then more hopefully.

Well t 90 numbers I know I wanted to know the t 72 variants and its quantities

Well currently how many are we upgrading cause 1000 already upgraded or we are just gonna upgrade slowly till all of the are upgraded
And are we also gonna upgrade the t55s with era’s?
T55s are in very specific units. They won't be upgraded.

For T72, army wil ideally want 1400 fully upgraded CIAs, with atleast 500-600 of them with an uprated 1000hp engine.

Has to be. The other two and old and useless.
So are actually gonna upgrade our t 72s ith ng-era’s or its just another test that wont go nowhere?

I have one more doubt
Are the t 72s that are gonna be upgraded to the ajeya mk2 standards are going to be upgraded from the 1400 cia’s or the other 600 non upgraded t 72 ajeya mk1s

I do not know these.

All I can say is that basic era and the TI sights should be universal amongst our fleet.

We may very well give a chance to now numerous pvt entities to try out their ideas. I hope that someone finds a innovative idea to allow the commander better awareness.

Engine upgrade is not easy. You need to improve the transmission as well. Reversing is slow. Affects commandars capabilities in battlefield.

Ooh ok
So we would atleast put era mk1s and ti sights at all 2000+ t 72 fleet

I have another question
Whats the difference between fully upgraded CIAs and t 72s equipped with era's and TI

Aim was to integrate all the components. It was called Project Rhino or something I think. Poland and Czechs were being consulted. But things didn't happened that way.

So 1st came the original T72s. Then came T-72M1 with ERA. Then Indian Army realised that night fighting is an issue so TI started coming in. Then other things.
