Never knew before US had C-295!
WATCH: A USAF C-295W from the 427th Special Operations Squadron was spotted flying low over western Iran this morning. A unit known for specialized infiltration and exfiltration missions deep inside hostile territory.

Anyway pretty humiliating episode for iroonis, just ~40km south of second largest city isafahan, not even some rando anti-regime province like sistan-baluchistan or kuzhestan (arabs)

to be fair to the iranians the US apperas to have lost 2 C130J variants and 2 helos on top of 2 MQ9s. not a cheap mission in the slightest. also looks like there have been significant injuries for the rescue squad.

This is the first time the USAF has suffered combat losses since Yugoslavia in the 1990s where it lost an F-117 to an SA-2 SAM.

The Iranians almost got an F-35 and even an F-18E/F. Credit where it is due.

A good development. If USAF is interested in procuring more of them, then chances of production line getting rebooted is pretty high. IAF would definitely be interested in procuring another 15-20 more, and replace the Il-76.

The air force is expected to receive its first Made-in-India C295 transport aircraft in Vadodara on September 22-23, a landmark event as it is the first military plane produced by India’s private sector, officials aware of the matter said on Tuesday.

The aircraft, which is currently undergoing flight tests, is expected to join one of the Indian Air Force’s two C295 squadrons based in Agra and Vadodara, the officials said asking not to be named.

The IAF will be the world’s largest operator of the C295. Under the C295 India programme, the country is manufacturing more than 13,000 parts, 4,600 sub-assemblies and all major component assemblies. But equipment such as engines, landing gear and avionics is being provided by Airbus, and integrated on the aircraft. The tactical airlifter is powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW127G turboprop engines.
