British foreign minister Yvette Cooper will travel to China on June 1, and then onwards to India later in the week, with the visits to focus on global issues from the Strait of Hormuz and the Russia-Ukraine war to the recent Ebola outbreak.

Ms Cooper will meet her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi and Chinese Vice-President Han Zheng on June 2, before travelling to the southern tech hub of Shenzhen for a programme focussed on science and technology a day later, the government said.

The plans, announced on May 31, come after Reuters reported in April on the visit, citing three sources.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Chinese leader Xi Jinping hailed a reset in ties during the British leader’s visit to China in January, pledging greater cooperation on trade, investment and technology to the mutual benefit of both countries.

So the UK SecDef has quit citing repeated denial of funds by the Chancellor of the Exchequer & the PM - the ball less Lady Keir Starmer .

Apart from the GCAP funding of all major defence programs have been affected by uncertainties in defence allocation.

Do we see Paddy report or comment on this ? Of course not. He's busy deriving vicarious pleasure out of the cancellation of the Franco German partnership over FCAS neglecting the fact that little britain is on the verge of being chucked out of the GCAP program due to persistent lack of funding. @BMD

Who knew the after effects of the dissolution of the British Empire would be so far reaching ?!

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Monday (June 15, 2026) announced a forthcoming ban on social media for all children under the age of 16.

Speaking at a Downing Street press conference, Mr. Starmer said that “the government will ban access to social media for all children under the age of 16”.

Mr. Starmer said he would introduce sweeping changes to social media regulation ‌to better protect the wellbeing of children when they are online.

“It is clear to me a full ban is ‌the right choice,” he said, adding that while it would ‌not be easy, the government had agency in pushing back against the power of big technology companies.

Britain has increasingly toughened its approach to tech companies in recent years, urging or forcing them to impose age verification, adapt their algorithms and, most recently, prevent children from ‌circulating nude images taken on mobile phones.

One of the reasons I'm gung ho about Russia's chances against the European component of NATO once current hostilities are halted & war renewed somewhere in 2030 when the big showdown between the US & China happens is coz of news like this.

God Bless Lady Keir Starmer ! If you notice I didn't add ball less as a prefix before her title , Paddy coz Lady Starmer seems spoiling for a fight for the leadership with her colleagues in the party in Labour.

In the meanwhile little britain can keep playing - Rule Brittania , Brittania rule the waves ...till she doesn't come up against a real challenger like the IRGC in the Straits of Hormuz for instance.

We do know how the RN was severely manhandled by those louts last time don't we Paddy ? More than the physical injuries the mental scars would be hard to scrub off from one's memories. All this in less than 8 decades from the end of WW-2 too.

What a fall !
