Ukraine - Russia Conflict

It's a rotten country that does not have a future. Because every time they had an opportunity to embrace freedom, the rule of law, and accountability; they instead resolutely chose oppression, corruption, and gangsterism.
Remember all those posts pointing out that russian infrastructure had been allowed to rot since the fall of the soviet union? Things are only going to get worse. Infrastructure gets even less credit now. All the money must go to feed poo-tin's dreams of imperial conquest. None of the money is available for making russia better; instead it must only be spent on making the neighbor worse.

I think it's important to remember that russia's GDP growth was entirely carried by only two sectors: defense industry (non-military industry are in recession) and construction. All other sectors are in recession. So, fun things are bound to happen if construction enters recession as well.

But russia's agriculture sector is also suffering. After all, there's a reason they want to import apples and rice from North Korea.

A state that built its power on coal, oil, and gas, getting wrecked by global warming. Poetic justice.

Speaking of, another proof that crime doesn't pay!
5/ Before the dam and the canals were built, the Azov region was very arid. The average annual rainfall is 350 mm while evaporation amounts to 1000-1100 mm. Two Russian attempts to invade Crimea via the Azov region failed in 1687 and 1689 because there was nothing to drink.
6/ Northern Crimea was even worse for agriculture and human habitation. It was a hot, arid, dusty plain with frequent droughts, dust storms and crop failures. The native Crimean Tatars scraped a living with subsistence agriculture and the production of crafts, rather than crops.

21/ "Because of the heat and drought, there is no green grass, only dry grass, and milk yields have dropped sharply. There will be no hayfields in such conditions, which means that they will have to buy hay at high prices, if it is available at all.
22/ "In such circumstances, villagers are beginning to reduce the number of livestock and abandon vegetable gardens. In many villages, the water pressure in the system is already low, as water consumption is in excess of the norm.
23/ "I think we will soon start to see water cut-offs, and there will be a big problem with water in Crimea this summer." /end

Wow, what a bargain! A shoddy piece of crap for just about two million rubles! For that price you get to pretend you're still in the 1960s! Because don't expect to find anything that was invented after 1970 in that brand-new vehicle...

One thing to keep in mind, is that this is only for those lucky few who do get to be paid. Most common complaint of the russian mobiks, along with "our commanders are actively trying to get us killed" and "even the wounded are told to charge", is that they don't get paid.

russia: the whole country is crumbling, everything needs urgent repair
poo tin: "all money that's not going into my private palaces must go into bombs to blow up Ukraine!"

Oh, and also, I can't help but love how the Houthi are screwing over russia and China:

Odd incident happened to an Air India flight. While en route to America, a false alarm forced it to land in russia.

The vulnerability of combat helicopters has translated into a high number of losses on the Russian side. In February, a report published by the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies found that the Russian Aerospace Forces had lost 40% of their pre-war Ka-52 Hokum-B attack helicopter fleet.

Slovakia and Hungary have said they stopped receiving oil from a key supplier, Russian company Lukoil, after Ukraine last month banned the transit of resources from the Russian energy company via its territory.
